Principal's Message
Dear Maple Glen Families,
Homecoming week is always an exciting time at Maple Glen, and we loved seeing our students show their school spirit. Maple Glen's float in the homecoming parade was TOP NOTCH!
Next Tuesday will be an exciting day as our PTO treats the ENTIRE school to Rita's Italian Ice for all the hard work put into this year's Rock-A-Thon.
Thank you for your flexibility with Wednesday's eLearning day. Please remember that all student work is due on Monday. If you have any questions or run into any issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher for support.
Have a great weekend,
Tiffany

Congrats to Oliver!
Oliver Hoye was our top earner during this year's Rock-A-Thon! Maple Glen had a name change on Thursday and became "Oliver Hoye Elementary School". Great job, Oliver!
171st/Ditch Closure
Just a friendly reminder that all cars should enter into Maple Glen from 169th/171st street. The bus lot is NOT a thorough fare to drop off students. Thank you for your flexibility.

Head Lice Information
Dear Parents,
This update is being sent home for you to review and to keep on hand. Maple Glen wants to be proactive in keeping head lice at a minimum, since the months of September through February are considered peak infestation times.
Head lice affects approximately 12 million Americans each year, mostly children. Head lice know no boundaries, they affect young and old. Head lice do not carry disease, nor does their presence mean the infected person is dirty. Head lice do not fly or jump. They can only crawl. While an infestation is not life-threatening, it is easily spread from person to person, and is a frequent problem in schools, especially with peak infestations being September through February. Lice must have human contact to survive. They cannot live on desktops, in books or papers, or on floors, nor can they live on animals. A child can’t be completely protected from head lice except by isolation; as long as any children in an environment have lice, all are vulnerable.
The most important partner in this process is You the parent. You are ultimately responsible for ensuring that your child does not miss school because of head lice. Please review: Steps To Keep Head Lice Out Of Your Child’s Hair.
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to call me.
Thank you for your help and cooperation.

Talking Points
Westfield Washington Schools usesTalkingPoints to communicate with families! TalkingPoints allows for seamless multilingual two-way communication between teachers and families. Families can choose to receive messages via SMS text messaging or through the free FAMILIES | TalkingPoints mobile app for Apple or Android.
This platform has enhanced translation capabilities, so families can receive and send messages in their preferred language. Additional tools like speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and closed captioned videos make this program accessible to all of our Westfield families.
The most important thing you can do to ensure you are receiving messages from your child’s teacher is to make sure your contact information for the “Father” and “Mother” fields in PowerSchool is correct. When a teacher sends out a message, TalkingPoints will automatically use those two phone numbers. If you’d like to add additional contacts, please reach out to your child’s teachers.
