🎵Notes about the Classes🎵
So exciting to meet my new classes! The Guitar class is learning how to play the C chord as well asG, D, em, and A7 chords this week. They are also learning the notes on the E String. The 7th Grade Vocal Power is adding Harmony to their songs. The 8th Grade Vocal Power classes are exploring songs composed and produced during World War 2. The Music 6 class is filled with the sounds of bucket drums and classroom percussion instruments as the class explores and extends their understanding of notation, meter, and tempo.
📣VOCAL PARENTS📣
Next Virtual Meeting, Tuesday, April 2 at 7:00 PM
Mary Poppins Families,
- Perhaps you made baskets for the raffle (we had 10 of them!), or managed tickets (over 1000 tickets purchased!) or sold concessions (192 bags of chips and 120 bags of fruit snacks – and that’s just the start of the list!).
- All-in, we raised about $9700 for the music program – including ~$2400 in concessions and more than $7300 in ticket sales.
- Perhaps you were brave enough to help with hair, costumes, stage clearing, or supervision. You calmed nerves, quieted voices, stitched hems, and figured out how to “make it work.”
- Perhaps you saw something that needed to be done – chairs that needed to be stacked, trash that needed to be picked up, a kiddo who needed a little encouragement…
Whatever your contribution, THANK YOU! Your presence and willingness to donate time, energy, and “can do” spirit made a real difference.
Several of you have written to ask how you can continue supporting the choir and chorus work at Emerson. As we close out this chapter, there are three invitations to continue your involvement and support the work in the future:
- We need a support organization for this work.
The next meeting for those trying to get something off the ground is after Spring Break – April 2 at 7 PM here (virtual). If you’re a champion of the musical, play, and/or choir at Emerson, please join us. We’ll get an official group set up this summer, but we need help now! You can sign up to join us (and to get information from Mrs. Fong). - We need a steady state of passive fundraising.
Our next opportunity to easily bring in support is May 1. Chipotle in Uptown will donate 25% of all purchases made by people with the flier below. You can pre-order and pay in the store or eat on-site. The fundraiser is from 4-8 PM. - We have another performance coming up - that means an opportunity to fundraise!
The Emerson choir performance is May 2. If you’re interested in coordinating concessions (or another raffle!) for that evening, please let me know (or join us on April 2). Next year, we’ll work to coordinate fundraisers with performance dates – the support organization will help!
Again, thank you for ALL you did for the musical. We look forward to the continued work together.
- Heather Young
