Open House
Hubbardston Center School is hosting Open House for families and students on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 5:00-6:00 pm. We encourage families to attend to see their child(ren)'s classroom(s) and to meet the teacher(s). This night will be filled with making connections and receiving information about the year ahead. We hope you will join!
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on November 5, where teachers will hold individual meetings with families to update them on their child(ren)'s academic, social, and emotion progress. More inforamtion to come on that.
Eagle Scout Project
Follow the link below for an Eagle Scout project, created by former Hubbardston Center School student, Lizzie Matheson. There will be information available, from Lizzie, at Open House.
Safety Drills
Snack Time
Each day, all classrooms have a break from learning for snack time with their homerooms. Please send a snack and water in each day so that your child(ren) can refuel! Please be aware that some classrooms are Nut Free, and classroom teachers have communicated that with families.
The PBIS Corner
Throughout the QRSD, all elementary schools are implementing PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports). This is new to Hubbardston Center School and is off to a successful start! Over the summer, our HCS PBIS Committee was formed and worked together to ensure a slow and steady roll out, which included training staff members and introdcuing expectations and an earning system to students. HCS's committee includes the following staff members: Liz Conlon (Kindergarten teacher), Bess Cottrell (Grade 3 teacher), Carla Medeiros (Grade 3 teacher), Deb Tyler (Special Educator), Emily Gardner (Speech Pathologist), Jen Fabrizio (Guidance Counselor), and myself. Families can expect updates on PBIS throughout the year in the Smore newsletter.
A few more important tidbits...
- Elementary schools within the Quabbin Regional School District will now be following a (4) quarters system, as opposed to trimesters. Families can expect report cards to be issued four times a year, and progress reports will no longer be sent home.
- If you have not already done so, please complete the "Back to School" packet (which included Emergency, Health, Permission to photograph, etc.), and send it back to school with your child(ren).
- Grade 5 families, the final payment for Nature's Classroom is due to HCS by October 4, 2024.
