LISD Families,

It has been such a joy to see students and staff dressed up to promote kindness all week. Seeing everyone in their team’s jerseys yesterday made one thing clear - I am so glad to be a part of Team LISD!

At Monday night's board meeting, the LISD Board of Trustees adopted a resolution regarding the lack of increase in per student funding since 2019 by the state of Texas. Read more about that resolution in the Board Bulletin below.

I’ve loved hearing from so many of you that you’ve downloaded the LISD App to stay informed about your student’s assignments, attendance information and more. If you haven’t already, visit your App Store and search for “Lewisville ISD” to download it.

I cover many updates in my video below, including details about the Bond and VATRE election on November 7, the updates to the Texas Education Agency’s school rating system and more, so please watch to stay informed.

There are many more updates throughout my newsletter, so please keep reading. Have a great weekend!

Dr. Isela Russell Named Texas Elementary Teacher of the Year Finalist

Dr. Russell joins Taniece Thompson-Smith from Abilene ISD’s Stafford Elementary School and Genesis Yougas from McKinney ISD’s Lawson Early Childhood Center as one of three state elementary teacher of the year finalists. On August 14, a panel of judges composed of representatives of Texas teacher associations and last year’s Texas Teacher of the Year finalists selected the finalists from the 40 Texas Regional Teachers of the Year — one elementary and one secondary teacher from each of the 20 Texas Education Service Center regions. Finalists will be interviewed Oct. 19 by a panel of judges composed of representatives of educational leadership associations, community and business leaders, a member of the State Board for Educator Certification, a member of the State Board of Education, and prior Texas Teachers of the Year. Congratulations, Dr. Russell! READ MORE
