Holy Rosary
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2| WEEK 9| 27 JUNE 2025
This weekend, we celebrate the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, two of the Church’s greatest evangelists. Despite their very different paths – Peter, the fisherman called to lead, and Paul, the converted persecutor turned tireless missionary – both men devoted their lives to spreading the Gospel. Their stories remind us that we are all called to share in God’s mission, no matter where we’ve come from or what we’ve faced.
Lord Jesus,
You called Peter the fisherman and Paul the persecutor to become bold witnesses of your love.
Help us to have the courage of Peter, who followed you in faith, and the passion of Paul, who shared your message with the world.
May we use our gifts and stories to make a difference in the lives of others.
Amen
Dear Parents, Friends, Guardians and Staff,
What a fabulous week it’s been at Holy Rosary!
This morning, we were treated to a beautiful Year 1 Class Mass. It was wonderful to see so many families join us – thank you for coming along and staying after for a cuppa and a biscuit. Father Peter always reminds us how much joy it brings him to see children and families gathered in prayer together.
Today also saw our Year 3–6 students in action at Jackadder Reserve for the Cross Country Carnival. There was determination, grit, and plenty of cheers – I was especially proud of the way students encouraged one another from the sidelines. A huge thank you to Mr Rob Flexman, Mrs Lisa Jeffcote and Mr Joe Kinder for their planning and coordination, and to the Year 3–6 staff for their support during the event. And to the families who came down to cheer – your presence makes these days all the more special.
Earlier this week, our Year 3s stepped back in time on their excursion to the Kalamunda History Village. Dressed in their finest ‘olden day’ outfits, the students (and their teachers!) looked incredible and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Thank you to Mrs Sharni Silvestri and Mr Jason Riddle for their work behind the scenes and on the day, and to our parent helpers for coming along to support.
Tonight, of course, we have one of the most anticipated events of the term – the School Disco! Our Kindy and Pre-Primary students kick things off at 3:30pm, followed by staggered sessions for Years 1–3 and Years 4–6. I know the kids are going to have an absolute ball. A massive thank you to our P&F team for the hours they’ve put into organising this – we are so grateful for all you do.
Teachers have been busy finalising Semester One reports, which will be available next Wednesday via SEQTA. These reports provide a snapshot of your child’s progress so far this year. A reminder that a ‘C’ grade reflects the expected level of achievement for their year level. Our teachers work incredibly hard to know each student’s strengths and areas for growth, and they are an invaluable resource in helping you understand your child’s learning journey. If you have any questions or comments about your child’s report, please don’t hesitate to contact their teacher.
Next Friday (our last day of Term 2!) is shaping up to be a very exciting one:
- Our Siena Centre parent community, together with our P&F, are hosting a Bake Sale to raise money for Telethon – prices will range from 50c to $3, so please send some change in with your child to purchase some delicious goodies.
- Students are invited to wear their pyjamas to school for a fun and comfy Pyjama and Movie Day. Our amazing Year 6 Council groups have organised for the whole school to enjoy a movie in the gym – it’s set to be a very comfortable and enjoyable day, and I hope we see some of our parents rocking their pyjamas too!
I’d like to extend my thanks to Mr Joe Kinder, Mrs Donna Powell and the incredible staff at Holy Rosary for their support during Mr O'Dwyer’s absence. It truly takes a village to keep everything running smoothly!
Wishing you all a restful weekend and a fantastic final week of term ahead.
Kind regards,
Grace Dwyer
Acting Principal

Early Learners Explore First Aid!
Our early childhood students had an exciting visit from St John Ambulance! They learned all about staying safe and helping others. 🚑❤️
Dear Parents, this week we have had confirmed cases of Chickenpox and Influenza in our community. To try and limit the spread Boorloo Public Health Unit has advised that good hand hygeine and coughing etiquette is imperative.
Please click on the link below for a factsheet on Chickenpox from HealthyWA.
Together we can keep our community as healthy as possible.
Happy Days in Week 9!
Smiles, sunshine, and all the fun this week. Week 9 has never looked so happy! ☀️💫
I hope you are enjoying learning Friendology along with our students. This week, I have witnessed many students using our “Talk it Out” benches around the school to manage their Friendship Fires.
- What is a Friendship Fire?: In this podcast interview, learn all about why friendship skills are important and how we’re supporting kids through URSTRONG’s Friendology curriculum to put out their Friendship Fires®.
Next Friday, 4th July, on the last day of school, is our whole school Movie and PJ day event. Students can wear HR sports uniform if they are not comfortable in their PJs. The students will gather together in the gym to watch a movie on the big screen starting at 12.30pm, with a lunchtime intermission, and finishing off after lunch until the bell. They are able to bring a cushion and a small bag of treats (no popcorn or crisps please) for the movie. A quiet space will be available in the library for students needing a break from the movie, with supervised colouring and reading. Thank you to Miss Rees and the Year 6 Pastoral Group for organising this fun whole school event.
Happy holidays!

Rainy days = indoor play! 🌧️✨ Lunchtime in the library turned into a marble run masterpiece - problem-solving, creativity, and lots of fun along the way!
A huge congratulations to all Year 4, 5 and 6 students who competed in the Holy Rosary Senior Chess Tournament. Well done to Jayce 4D in 1st place, 2nd Aiden 6D, 3rd Sam 6D and Joey 4C. You are all champions and showed incredible skill and sportsmanship! Trophies will be presented in Term 3.
The Junior Tournament will commence on Thursday in Week 1. Students who have signed up over the last 3 weeks should keep an eye on the notice board in the library window to see when they are playing. If a student has signed up, they are committed to play and will get a game in round 1, which will go for a few weeks. If your child is sick, please email me first thing so I can try to make arrangements for an alternative competitor. Competitors will eat their lunch and come directly to library at 1.15pm ready to play. Thank you for helping your child to practice over the holidays so they know the basic rules of chess.
Congratulations to 5C for winning the Library Trophy for the holidays! Year 5 Chess Club will have its last meeting at recess on Thursday Week 1 and students are invited to bring a plate to share to celebrate.
The library will be closed next week, Week 10, at lunchtime and for classes and borrowing. If your child has a lost or damaged book, please replace it over the holidays and return it in Week 1.
Ms Capolingua and I cannot wait to meet our kindy friends in Term 3. All kindy students need a Holy Rosary Library Bag in order to borrow a book. These can be purchased from Mrs Powell in the office for $20.50.
Book Week and our famous Parade is in Week 5. More information will follow next term.
Enjoy the holidays!
