Sports Day TOMORROW
Dust off those jerseys and lace up your sneakers, Jaguars! Tomorrow, February 19th, is officially Sports Day at DuJardin!
Thanks to the incredible creativity and leadership of our Student Council, we’re turning the hallways into a Hall of Fame. Whether you’re a die-hard Chicago sports fan, a local league legend, or just really love a comfy pair of joggers, tomorrow is your day to shine.
🏀 How to Participate:
Represent Your Team: Wear your favorite professional, college, or local team gear.
Get Creative: Don’t have a jersey? No problem! Wear your team colors, a sporty headband, or even your favorite active clothes. DuJardin could be your favorite team as well.
Keep it Safe: Please remember that while we’re "game-ready," we still need to follow school footwear rules (no cleats, please!).
Whether you’re Team Bulls, Team Bears, or Team "I’m just here for the halftime snacks," let’s show our school spirit and make this a win for the whole DuJardin community!
5Essentials Survey - Share your feedback with us -
Your voice is a vital part of what makes DuJardin Elementary a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow. We are currently conducting the 5Essentials Survey, and we need your input!
This survey is more than just a checklist; it’s an opportunity for you to share your perspective on our school’s climate, leadership, and instructional environment. Your honest feedback provides us with the data we need to celebrate our successes and target specific areas for improvement.
Why take the survey?
Impact: Your insights directly influence our school improvement plans.
Representation: We want to ensure every family's experience is heard.
Growth: Help us continue to provide the best possible education for our Jaguars.
Please take a few moments to complete the survey at the link below. Thank you for your continued partnership and for helping us make DuJardin the best it can be!
Registration for 2026-2027 Opens Soon
We are excited to announce that student registration for the 2026-2027 school year will officially open on February 23rd! Please review the following information to ensure a smooth registration process for your family.
Kindergarten Eligibility Children who will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2026, are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten for the upcoming school year.
New vs. Returning Student Portals To streamline the process, we have two distinct registration pathways:
New Student Portal: For families brand new to District 13.
Returning Student Portal: For any student currently enrolled in D13 during the 2025-2026 school year.
Important Note for Transitioning Students If your child currently attends a D13 school, they are considered a returning student. You should use the Returning Student Portal even if your child is moving from one building to another (for example, moving from DuJardin Elementary to Westfield Middle School OR moving from Preschool at Erickson to Kindergarten at Erickson or DuJardin).

A Bloomingdale Champion Award
A Bloomingdale Champion (ABC) is a community member or a staff member who exemplifies one or more of the core values of District 13 through intentional acts that:
- Ensure every child will learn;
- Treat everyone with honor and respect, and;
- Demonstrate a willingness to work together to achieve a goal.
- The nominee must have specific experiences that demonstrate key elements of at least one of the core values to be considered as a finalist.
- Nominees shall be brought to a committee made up of members of the Bloomingdale Council of Teachers, the Board of Education of Bloomingdale School District 13 and the Administration.
- Using a rubric (below), each nominee will be scored by each member of the committee until one community member and/or one staff member has been selected for recognition.
- The form should only take 10 to 15 minutes to complete.
The Shining Star Award
One of the most critical roles in Bloomingdale School District 13 is the paraprofessional. These individuals support instruction from within the classroom, can be directly assigned to students whose goals are outlined on an Individual Education Plan, and, in many cases, are the source of substitute teaching in each building. They supervise lunch and busses, deliver curriculum under the teacher's supervision, and are often the ones helping calm down and dry the tears of children.
With the Shining Star Award, District 13 wants to recognize the work of this group of employees through the special work and support they provide daily. If you as a staff member, or you as a parent through your child have had a wonderful experience working with a paraprofessional, please take the time to complete this brief form to nominate them for this recognition. A couple of times a year, nominees will be selected by a group comprised of school board members, staff, and administration based on the impact the paraprofessional has had through the description you provide.

- Kindergarten: Physical, Dental, & Vision
- 2nd Grade: Dental
- Health Office Website
Student Needs:
Please inform the nurse of any allergies or sensitivities to foods, medications, and environmental allergens. If there are any pertinent details of your students' health that you feel the nurse needs to know, please reach out and discuss this with the school nurse. This information can be helpful to better support your student throughout the day, if certain situations arise.
About Your Student’s Medication:
The district's medication administration policy mandates that all medication to be administered at school requires an MD order, this includes over-the-counter medications. Students may NOT keep over-the-counter meds in their backpacks or in their lockers--including cough drops, Advil, etc. This is an important safety concern! Please review the policy included in the registration process.
If your student requires an inhaler, Epi-Pen, or any oral medication, please obtain the medication form and appropriate health care plan from your physician when your child has their exam. Forms may also be obtained on the district website.
Excused Physical Education Class:
Please note that all PE excuses need to be sent to the Nurse's Office. A parent may excuse a student from PE for up to 3 days. (consecutively) Thereafter, a Doctor's note is required.

AR Reading Program
The Accelerated Reader (AR) program at DuJardin: Students in first-fifth grade can take AR tests on the books they read.

Mr. Pearlman will be going over the AR program during library with our First and Second grade students this coming week. Most books we have in the library are AR books and students can read the book and take a quiz to earn points. So, find a great book, get reading, and let's get those points!
