The News
I hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break! The weather was about as perfect as one could ask for. I hope you all are relaxed and rejuvenated and ready to close out the school year strong. At least the Full Moon was during the break and not this week. (See picture 👉🏻).
ACT scores started trickling in to our Juniors late Friday. We finally got the full report early Saturday morning. An early analysis of the report showed great news for our Juniors. The improved their overall composite score from a 16 on the pre-ACT to a 17 on the ACT. There were 30 students who improved their composite score and 57 who improved on at least one portion of the test. They had the highest overall math and reading scores of all classes on record (the last seven years). We also had 100 percent attendance to take the test. I am really proud of them and their effort!
ACAP testing for our seventh and eighth graders will take place next week. Our middle school teachers will be engaging those students this week in strong review sessions. We ask that the parents of these students help us prepare as well by encouraging them to do their best.
If 'Senioritis' hasn't taken hold of the Class of 2026 by now then I'm sure it will in April. Our Seniors only have a few weeks left before they close out their high school phase of life and move on to bigger and better things. I look forward to watching them enjoy their last few weeks together.
Congratulations to our softball team on their win over Haleyville and our baseball team on their easy win over Hackleburg and area sweep of Colbert County.
Have A Great Week!

3. A song from this musical states, “Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind / In this darkness that you know you cannot fight / The darkness of the music of the night.”

Inspiration for the Week
Disclaimer: Before all of the reflexive and dismissive comments from my Alabama friends, I have read a leadership book on Nick Saban because I have great respect for him and what he accomplished in Tuscaloosa (and, he's next week). Likewise, I love what Alex Golesh is trying to do at Auburn. So, there's that...haha!
I was honored to be able to attend the Auburn Football Alumni Day last weekend and attend practice. This slogan below is posted everywhere in the football facility and practice fields. This is something that applies to every high school student, parent, teacher, principal or anyone for that matter.
(If you can't read it because of the glare)
Be who you say you are
Talk is easy. Standards aren't. To be who you say you are means your actions match your words- every day. It means your habits reflect your standards. It means when you make a commitment, you honor it.
If you say you're committed, show up early.
If you say you're elite, train like it.
If you say you're a leader, live it when it's hard.
No excuses. No shortcuts. No gaps between promise and performance.
Do what you say you're going to do-consistently- and you won't just reach your potential, you'll become the best version of yourself.
