DO YOUR BEST AT SES đź‘»
Dear Families,
As November arrives, we are reminded of the beauty of change it brings. I hope you’ve taken a moment to appreciate the simple pleasures and the natural beauty around us, even amid our busy lives. This is a great opportunity to teach our children the importance of being present and valuing the wonders of each season.
As we approach the end of the First Quarter, report cards will soon be sent home. This is an ideal time to discuss your child's achievements, challenges, and goals. Celebrate their successes, big or small, and encourage them to keep striving. If you have any concerns or need additional resources, please reach out to our staff. We are here to support every child's journey.
With the holiday season around the corner, it’s also a good moment to reflect on the values of gratitude, kindness, and community. We are continually thankful for our wonderful school community and the partnership we share with all of you. Let’s work together to instill these values in our children as they learn the importance of citizenship and contributing positively to our community.
Please take a moment to review the upcoming events, meetings, and activities detailed in this newsletter. We encourage you to save, duplicate, or print it for your reference. Together, let’s ensure our students receive the best experiences both academically and socially.
Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment. Wishing you a November filled with warmth, joy, and memorable moments with your loved ones.
Sincerely,
Damian Switzer

Fantastic Fire Safety Day
We are thrilled to share the success of our recent Fire Safety Day, where our elementary students had the opportunity to learn from the dedicated members of the local volunteer fire departments.
A heartfelt thank you to the firefighters for their incredible commitment to our children's safety and well-being. The knowledge and insights they provided were invaluable, helping our students understand the critical role firefighters play in our community.
Through engaging presentations and hands-on demonstrations, our students not only learned essential fire safety skills but also enjoyed the interactive experience. The firefighters' patience in answering questions made the day both educational and enjoyable.
We are grateful for the time and expertise the volunteer fire fighters invested in our school. Events like these leave a lasting impact on our students and help foster a safer community for everyone.
Parent Teacher Conferences
We are pleased to share that Parent-Teacher Conferences have been going very well. Please note that Thursday, November 7th, will be our last half day for students to facilitate these important meetings. We look forward to your continued participation and collaboration in supporting your child's education!
We are excited to announce that Salem Washington Academy will hold a Veterans Day Assembly on November 8, 2024, at 9:00 AM to honor our local veterans. We warmly invite you to come and bring family members and friends who have served in the Armed Forces to join us for this meaningful occasion.
Families and guests attending may enter the high school gym through the doors of the CSE office starting at 8:45 AM. At 9:00 AM, the veterans will march into the gym to the sound of a drum cadence. All students from PK to Grade 12 will be in attendance to watch this meaningful occasion. We encourage students to wear patriotic colors.
We look forward to celebrating our heroes with everyone. For any questions, please contact Kim Carr at kcarr@salemcsd.org
