Message for the Week:
Message from Mr. Tejkl
Accountability and Responsibility..
Good morning!
Happy Sunday and I hope you had a great weekend! You couldn't have asked for better weather! Ask the weekend comes to a close, we have many more activities and events upcoming this week! If you are able, take the opportunity to enjoy some of those great events!
As we move deeper into the school year, this is the time of year where a crossroad happens. You may think that it is way to early to be making choices that will dictate how the rest of the 1st quarter, 1st semester, and/or even the rest of the year. The first quarter will be over in a month and our actions/decisions can dictate how the end looks. The actions we take when deciding to do homework. The actions we do when finishing a project. The actions we choose when deciding between the fine line of professional and personal lives. There are many choices that will be taken but it ultimately comes down to your choice.
It is important to remember that we have the responsibility for what we say and do but beyond that, we have the accountability of what we say and do that is important as well. Our accountability is a personal reflection of ourselves. Whether that is showing up to work on time, how we communicate with others throughout the day/week, or what is said or done in the heat of the moment. Life is about learning from mistakes and continuing to grow. However, thinking before doing or saying is a very powerful tool that we need to use as well.
It is easy for us to point the finger of why this went bad or how it was another person's fault. It is difficult sometimes to accept the truth but nothing is finite. Each day presents a new opportunity to be and/or become better. When we move forward throughout the day: Take a breath, don't rush to judgement, and do what is best for those around you (not necessarily yourself).
Challenge this week: Reflect on how you react in certain situations and how can you be responsible for the accountability with actions moving forward.
Have a great rest of your Sunday and I will see you tomorrow!
Quote of the week to reflect on:
"There's responsibility, but there's also accountability. You have to be accountable for your actions. You have to stand at your locker when things are going bad."
Derek Jeter
Sincerely,
Tucker Tejkl
