Odyssey of the Mind

Thanks again to all our coordinators, coaches, and judges for a successful Odyssey of the Mind year! Most especially, thanks to all the students who participated this year! You all persisted through uncertainty, questions, and an unfamiliar tournament format. Thank you all for sharing your time & talents with us!

We are already starting to plan for 2022-23, see information below regarding the tournament dates. Stay tuned - we will send out more information in September. I hope you all have a safe, healthy & happy summer!

The 2021-22 Odyssey of the Mind season officially ended at this year's World Finals in Ames, Iowa. Congratulations to the Averill Park High School team who competed in Problem 4/Division III - they placed 6th out of 28 teams in their division !!

Our regional tournament will be held on March 25, 2023 at Coxsackie-Athens CSD (snow date March 26, 2023). We are anticipating a fully in-person tournament, but that is subject to change based on unforeseen circumstances.

The State Tournament will be held on April 15, 2023 at the NYS Fairgrounds in Syracuse. Please note that spring break in our region runs from April 7-April 14. This date is final, please feel free to share with families to allow for any travel plans that families may make.

I understand the timing for this is not optimal, and am advocating with NYSOMA to consider regional spring breaks when scheduling future state tournaments.

We will be hiring a Region 4 Odyssey of the Mind Tournament Director for the 2022-23 school year. The official posting will be coming soon. If you are interested, please contact Maureen for more information. Please share as appropriate.

Next year’s fees will be changing. There will no longer be a state membership fee charged, but any teams advancing to the State Tournament will pay a fee of $300. National membership and regional tournament fees will still apply. Please contact us if you have any questions on this.
