Dear Polar Bear Families,

Attendance is key to student success! We need our students at school all day, every day, and on time to ensure they get the most out of their learning. If you are facing challenges getting your child to school, please reach out—we have resources that may help.

Additionally, we want to acknowledge the dedication of our teachers. They work tirelessly both during school hours and beyond, often using their personal time to plan, grade, and prepare for their students. To support their well-being, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding. Teachers have 24 hours to return calls or messages and will respond during their designated prep time.

Thank you for your partnership and support in making Herrera Elementary a great place to learn and grow!

Please check out the February Core Essentials newsletter on Facebook to learn about how you can incorporate learning about uniqueness at home.

Cada mes aprendemos sobre un nuevo valor. Nuestro valor de Core Essentials para febrero es la singularidad. La singularidad es aprender más sobre los demás para poder saber más sobre uno mismo. It’s time to start getting our 5th graders prepared for their transition to middle school! A counselor from Brown Middle School will visit our 5th graders in late February or early March to assist them with pre-registration. Students will take their pre-registration forms home so that parents can assist them with completing the forms. Please be sure to return the pre-registration form as soon as possible so that I can submit them to Brown. Completing this form will ensure that your child will be enrolled in the elective courses of their choosing. Please note that this form does not take the place of online registration. Parents will be required to complete online registration and are encouraged to do so as soon as registration is open in April. Brown Middle School will host a parent orientation night in May, as well as a Pup Camp for incoming 6th graders over the summer. I will notify parents of the dates of these events as they are scheduled. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.

¡Es hora de comenzar a preparar a nuestros estudiantes de quinto grado para su transición a la escuela secundaria! Un consejero de la escuela Brown Middle School visitará a nuestros estudiantes de quinto grado a fines de febrero o principios de marzo para ayudarlos con la preinscripción. Los estudiantes se llevarán sus formularios de preinscripción a casa para que los padres puedan ayudarlos a completarlos. Spring Parent Teacher Conference will be Feb. 4th. We would like to remind you that there is also an early release for students at 12:00 pm. Please make sure to pick up your children on time and visit your child's teacher. Conferences will be from1:00-6:00 pm.

La conferencia de primavera para padres y maestros será el próximo mes el 4 de febrero. Nos gustaría recordarles que también hay salida temprana para los estudiantes a las 12:00 horas. This year PTA will be producing the yearbook! There are three purchase options

• Soft cover - $25
• Perfect bind - $30
• Hard cover - $35). Just for reference, last year the school sold the soft cover option.

To pay in cash: Please fill out the flyer that will be coming home and deposit your money envelope in the white metal lock box in the front office. If you are purchasing more than one yearbook, you can receive a sibling discount - paying full price on the first yearbook, and $5 off each additional yearbook.

To pay online: If you want to personalize your Yearbook, it can only be done online for a $2 upcharge. Scan the QR code! A 10% processing fee also applies for online ordering.
