Superintendents' Message

Dear Shoreline Community,

There are many exciting things to look forward to in the month of October, as we find ourselves now well into the 2024-2025 school year. Our 2nd Annual Harvest Festival, sponsored this year by our Tomales Elementary and High School communities, will take place on Saturday, October 12th from 10AM-2PM at Tomales High School.

At our Board of Trustees meeting on October 17th, we will have the opportunity to meet and interview a prospective board member who has applied for the open seat in Area 2, which serves the Tomales and Dillon Beach areas.

Academics and activities are in full swing at all of our school sites, and throughout the month our schools will be planning for their annual celebrations of Halloween and Dia De Los Muertos across the district. As we come to the end of October, we will already reach the milestone of completing a quarter of the school year.

Time is flying by in Shoreline, and we are so glad that you are a part of it.

In Community,

Adam Jennings

Superintendent

Shoreline Unified Receives CDFA Grant Award

Shoreline Unified was awarded $200,000 from the California Department of Food and Agriculture These funds will support our district in taking the lead to hire a shared food services director to serve our West Marin school districts. This role will be focused on working with our food service staff to continue developing seasonal menus with more scratch-cooked meals made up of local ingredients.

The funds will support this position for 18 months, to give our consortium time to evaluate this role in its effectiveness in supporting our Child Nutrition program goals. In addition, the project will work to build partnerships with local organic farms, dairies and ranches to continue to improve the quality of school meals. Our next steps are working collaboratively with our staff and our partner districts to develop the job description for the position and then hire, with the goal for the position to start in January.
