Welcome Back '26
Welcome to Evergreen and our 2026/2027 school year. As the administrative team serving our Evergreen students, staff, families, and community, we are honored to be part of the same pack in support of our Timberwolves. We open this school year with an intentional focus on growth. This is embedded within common themes that you will see and hear - EVER:grow, Go Green, Win the Day, etc. Our urgency and intense focus on growth is grounded in our mission to ensure that our Evergreen students develop the skills and habits required to thrive beyond our campus.
Growth is also embedded within the expectations of our school. These expectations are all encompassing and span both the academic and social-emotional environment of our school. Beginning on our Opening Day, our collective expectations will be evident as we know that our students' choices today are formative to their futures. As our Timberwolves will hear, these expectations are uncompromising and unwavering. They are the direct result of our care for our students and our commitment to their families. For more, please view our school message and opening day message to our students.
As the days, weeks, and months of this school year unfold, please utilize this website, our Parent Square site, our socials, and our Evergreen office as resources. We value and appreciate opportunities to connect and partner, as we work together in support of our Timberwolves.
On behalf of our entire Evergreen team, we welcome you and your family to our 2026/2027 school year and thank you for being part of the Evergreen community. You are part of our pack, and we are truly honored to be your principals. Go Green!
With Gratitude,
Alex, Medgar, & Tyler

Welcome Back Orientation: Tuesday, August 25th
Our Welcome Week Orientation is right around the corner, taking place on campus this coming Tuesday, August 25th from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. As in previous years, our orientation event is a flexible, drop-in event.
During Orientation, you’ll be able to:
- Take your 26/27 school picture
- Connect with student and family groups, clubs, and organizations
- Visit with our Music Team
- Register for athletics
- Collect any needed supplies
- Pick up a copy of your tentative student class schedule (please see below, related notes)
- Pre-order your 2026/2027 yearbook
- Tour the campus and preview your classroom locations
Again, attendance at Tuesday's orientation is optional, as all essential back-to-school information and activities will be covered with our Timberwolves during our Opening Week. That said, if you have time, we would love to see you back on campus again!
Draft Form Student Schedules
Students will receive a paper schedule at Welcome Week Orientation on August 25, but these schedules should be considered tentative and may include changes or open periods while counselors finalize placements. If a student is newly enrolled this summer, they may not have a schedule as our counselors are working to build those as student records are received.
Schedules may appear in ParentVUE and StudentVUE before school starts, but they are also drafts. While Synergy goes live on August 28th, we recommend checking schedules again on September 1st for the most accurate information.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work to finalize schedules for all students.
IMPORTANT NOTE: As these student class schedules are drafts, we ask that you not reach out to our office or counseling team to request class changes. Our priority at this time is ensuring that every student has a full schedule of classes. After our Opening Day, information will be communicated related to how students/families request class schedule changes. As noted below, we utilize a common, schoolwide orientation across the first two days of school so students will not be missing any critical academic content.
2026/27 Student/Family Handbook
The 2026/27 edition of our Student/Family handbook is live and avaliable via the below (gray) link and our Evergreen website, under the heading About Us. This handbook contains all-things-Evergreen and is meant to be a resource for students and families across this school year. Please take a moment to look over this handbook and familiarize yourself with the linked location.
While you are welcome to do so, we are not asking that you read our entire handbook. Rather, please preview this handbook and know that it is an intentionally created, family-facing resource to help with Evergreen-specific information. Additionally, please know that this handbook will be revised across this school year as policies and practices are updated. For the most up-to-date version, please access the link on our Evergreen website.
Opening Day 2026: Wednesday, September 2nd
Welcome back T-Wolves! Our 2026/27 school year is expected to begin on Wednesday, September 2nd. While a finalized district calendar is forthcoming (associated LINK), we are preparing for and fully expect to open our school year on the Wednesday before the labor day weekend.
Like last year, this schedule allows for a "three-four-five" staggered start to the school year with three school days in our first week, four school days in our second week, and a full five-day week as our third week. This staggered start has been proven beneficial in helping students better acclimate to the start of the year. It also provides us with needed scheduling flexibility as we have a variety of academic and operational deliverables across the first few weeks of the school year.
On Opening Day (Wednesday, 9/2), please know that our first bell will ring at 7:25am, as normal, with first period beginning at 7:30am. Our students will proceed through all six periods across each of their first three days of school, allowing us the orientation time that is critical to a successful start. For more information pertaining to our Opening Week schedule, please see the below "Opening Notes" section.
Opening Notes:
As we collectively progress toward our Opening Day on Wednesday, September 2nd, please read through the below information for a few additional details designed to help your family prepare for the return.
Opening Week Schedule: We will utilize a slightly modified version of our regular bell schedule during the first three days of school (September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th). The only adjustment is that we will not begin our advisory period, Den Time, until the second week of school. On Opening Day, Wednesday, September 2nd, students should report directly to their first period class at the normal arrival time. The first/welcome bell rings at 7:25am and first period begins shortly afterwar at 7:30am.
During the first two days of school, we follow a structured, period-by-period orientation plan designed to help students become familiar with our school, staff, classes, routines, and one another. Our first Friday will focus on class-specific information, including course overviews, expectations, syllabi, technology platforms, and other important details. We will also host an all-school welcome activity on our first Friday to introduce students to their school Houses. For more on houses, please see the related section in our Student/Family Handbook.
School Meals — Breakfast & Lunch: Evergreen provides free breakfast and lunch to all students. Many of our Timberwolves choose to eat school meals, although there is no expectation that students do so. Students are always welcome to bring lunch from home if they prefer. Because meal lines can occasionally take a few minutes, bringing lunch may provide a little additional time to eat. Families do not need to complete any pre-registration or payment process for school meals. Students simply enter their student ID number when accessing meal service and may choose to participate on any day and for any meal.
Medical Conditions and Medication at School: If your student has a serious medical condition, such as asthma, severe allergies (anaphylaxis), seizures, diabetes, or another life-threatening health condition, Washington State law and Everett Public Schools policy require that a current medical order, necessary medication, and an individual health plan be in place before the first day of school.
If your student needs any medication at school, including prescription or over-the-counter medication, a completed Medication Authorization Form must be on file before the medication can be brought to or administered at school.
Medication Authorization Forms are available on the district website and must be signed by your student's medical provider. We also accept equivalent forms provided by your healthcare provider. Please return completed forms to the school health room as soon as possible. Forms may be faxed to the nurse at (425) 385-5505 or dropped off at the school office during office hours. Thank you for helping us keep your student safe and healthy at school.
Chromebook Distribution: All students will receive a school-issued Chromebook during our opening days. Distribution will begin with our sixth graders on Thursday, 9/3, followed by our seventh graders on Friday, 9/4 and eighth graders on Tuesday, 9/8. As part of our opening-week orientation activities, students will learn about Chromebook use, care, and expectations. We ask that devices be charged each evening so students are prepared for learning the following day. If you have any questions about student technology, please do not hesitate to reach out as we are always happy to help.
Fall Diagnostic Assessments: During the first weeks of school, students will participate in our fall Reading and Math diagnostic assessments. These assessments provide important baseline information about each student's academic strengths and areas for growth, helping us tailor instruction and identify any needed support or intervention services. Students will participate in these diagnostic assessments across the second week of our school year (9/8 - 9/11) and will take these during their math and ELA classes. As with any assessment window, make-up opportunities will be provided for students who are absent during these forthcoming testing sessions.

Back-to-School FAQs
To help with back-to-school, below are a few frequently asked questions/answers related to opening next month.
What's up with the school year calendar?
Every few years, we work collaboratively with representatives from across our district to consider important elements of our contracts, including school year schedules. This is an important, meaningful process but often takes time as we work to finalize details for this year and beyond. We are currently in the final phases of that process and expect to have school year calendars shortly. In the interim, plan for our Opening Day to be the date noted above, Wednesday, September 2nd. Additionally, the above-noted Upcoming Important Dates are all valid so please plug these into your September calendar. We will certainly notify you of any updates or changes.
Are backpacks required for all students? Yes. At Evergreen, we do not utilize lockers beyond PE. Backpacks are critical for carrying needed supplies/materials including Chromebooks and class specific folders. If your child needs a backpack for the coming year, please contact our office (phone or email) and we will quietly and happily connect with them to provide several middle school specific options.
What is the best way to meet/connect with each of my child's teachers? Teachers are always interested in connecting with families and two important opportunities in this regard occur shortly after the start of our school year. Please add our forthcoming Curriculum Night on your calendars for the evening of Thursday, September 17th (5:30pm). Additionally, our Fall Conferences are set to be scheduled once our EPS 2026/27 student calendar is finalized (will likely be set for early November). Both of these events built-in opportunities to connect with your child's teachers. That noted, we certainly applaud you reaching out to establish a connection early in the school year. Contact information for all of the members of our Evergreen Team is avaliable via our school website, specifically the Our Staff page.
Are cell phones, earbuds, headphones, and other forms of personal technology still not allowed at Evergreen? Absolutely - As noted in out above-linked Student Family Handbook and per EPS Policy 3246 and Procedure 3246P, cell phones, Bluetooth earbuds/headphones, personal videogame consoles, and other forms of personal technology may not be out/in use during school hours. At Evergreen, students are required to power off and store any personal technology before entering our building. They are free to use these devices again after our 2:05pm dismissal bell (12:50pm on Fridays) as use is sometimes needed to coordinate after school transportation, etc. Please know that we strictly enforce these personal technology expectations as the absence of these devices is beneficial to our needed teaching/learning and social-emotional environment. Additionally, the absence of personal technology during school hours is critical to school safety and student wellbeing. Please look for specifics in our student and family handbooks (online with revised versions forthcoming this August).
Is there any reason for my child to bring money to school? No, and we suggest money remains at home. Evergreen does not have an everyday school store or avaliable vending machines. A store for PAWS tickets is avaliable during the midday break on specific days of the week but items are only avaliable through our PAWS ticket system an not cash/sale-based.
