Tofield School Principal’s Message: September 2026
Mr. Gordon Thompson, Principal (Grades 10-12)
Ms. Melissa Korpan Assistant Principal (Grades 7-9)
Mr. Clayton Roe Assistant Principal (Grades 5-6)
Welcome back to a brand new school year! As we open our doors for the 2026–2027 term, I am filled with a great sense of excitement for the work ahead. This being my second year as your principal, I am especially looking forward to deepening the trust and positive relationships I began building with students and the Tofield community last year.
Our focus remains on creating a safe, caring, and inclusive school where every student from Grade 5 through 12 can thrive and feel a genuine sense of belonging.
Our Priorities for the Year
The School Education Plan continues to guide our efforts, prioritizing student learning, well-being, and mental health. This year, we are placing a particular emphasis on:
Supporting Safe and Respectful Schools: With the introduction of Bill 25, we will be collaborating with students and staff to update our Student Code of Conduct and Behaviour Matrix to reflect new provincial requirements.
Digital Citizenship: We will provide opportunities throughout the year to discuss responsible social media use and the ethical use of artificial intelligence.
Student Well-Being: Ensuring every student has a trusted adult they can turn to when things don't feel right.
Academic and Staffing Updates
Last year, our administration worked hard to provide as much flexibility as possible in our programming. Due to shifts in provincial funding and rural enrollment trends, we are starting this year with fewer staff members than we had at the end of last term. While we have had to reduce the number of complementary course offerings, I want to reassure families that we have maintained full course loads for all students and avoided the need for combined grade programs. Our dedicated staff is fully committed to helping every student find academic and social success.
Mobile Device Expectations
To keep instructional time focused on learning, we remind families that personal mobile devices must be powered off (or set to silent) and stored in a backpack, bag, or locker during class time. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home to minimize classroom disruptions.
We are honored to be part of your child’s educational journey. Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to make 2026–2027 an incredible year for all our students.
Go Titans!
The Nest
Unlocking Academic Potential: Welcome to the NEST Room!
We are excited to share a major addition to our learning community at Tofield School: the NEST Room!
NEST stands for Nurture, Engage, Support, and Teach. This dedicated space is specifically designed to provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 targeted interventions, helping bridge foundational literacy and numeracy gaps for students in Grades 5 through 12.
What Is the NEST Room?
Targeted Support: Focuses on closing foundational skill gaps in reading, writing, and math to help students succeed in their everyday coursework.
Middle & High School Focus: Blends age-appropriate, high-interest learning materials with essential skill remediation, keeping students engaged and motivated.
Flexible Access: Operates on a dynamic, station-based setup that adapts based on staffing, ensuring students receive personalized instruction in a supportive setting.
Inclusive Environment: Designed purely as an academic bridge to empower middle and high school learners who need focused, small-group support.
By meeting students exactly where they are, the NEST provides the extra scaffolding necessary to build confidence, independence, and long-term academic success.
We look forward to seeing our students grow and thrive through this new resource! If you have any questions about how the NEST Room might benefit your child, please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher or school administration.

SPORTS GO TITANS!
Game On! Fall Sports and Cross Country Take Center Stage
The energy in our school is electric this week as our fall sports tryouts officially get underway! Coaches and student-athletes have hit the courts, fields, and tracks with incredible focus, passion, and determination.
Tryout Energy in Full Swing
Whether you are lacing up your shoes for running, warming up your serve for volleyball, or trying out for a team for the very first time, we want to wish everyone the best of luck this week. Remember that tryouts are about showing your heart, hustle, and sportsmanship as much as your skill. Work hard, support your fellow peers, and leave it all on the field!
Cross Country Hits the Ground Running
Cross Country runners have already kicked off their season. They’ve been out early, and setting the pace for a fantastic fall. Wishing all of our runners high energy, fast times, and strong finishes in their upcoming meets.
Coaches and Volunteers
To Our Coaches: Thank you for the countless hours spent developing our student-athletes. You were instrumental in teaching technical skills, promoting strong teamwork, and building lasting character and resilience.
To Our Volunteers: You are the essential backbone of our teams. Your work in coordinating events, managing logistics, and providing unwavering support ensured a smooth and positive experience for everyone involved.
The positive impact you have had on our students goes far beyond the scoreboards. Thank you for investing your time and passion in the lives of our community's youth.

🍾 Cheers to the Future: Support the Class of 2026!
Do you have a growing mountain of juice boxes, soda cans, or milk jugs taking up space in your garage? You can turn that clutter into a contribution for our students!
We are excited to announce that the Grad Class of 2026 has officially launched an ongoing bottle drive fundraiser. All proceeds will go directly toward funding graduation festivities, ensuring our students have a memorable and inclusive celebration to cap off their high school journey.
📍 How It Works
Supporting the grads is simple. You don’t even need to knock on doors or wait for a specific collection date!
Collect your refundables: Gather your aluminum cans, plastic bottles, and glass containers.
Visit the TOFIELD Bottle Depot: Take your recyclables to the local depot at your convenience.
Donate the Refund: Simply let the staff know before they start your order that you would like to donate your refund to the "Grad Class of 2026."
This initiative is running from now until May 2027. Whether it’s a single bag or a truckload from a weekend BBQ, every cent adds up over the next year!
Why it matters: Graduation represents years of hard work and dedication. Your donations help lower the costs of ceremonies and events, making sure every student can participate in the magic of their final year.
Thank you for your continued support of our schools and our future graduates. Let’s help the Class of 2027 reach their goal, one bottle at a time!
