WKE Distance Learning
White Knoll Families
Dear WKE Families,
We are in some uncertain times and we recognize how incredibly difficult this situation is for many families. The wonderful team at WKE along with the Instructional Coordinators at Central Services have been working hard to identify meaningful instructional activities for your child to do while he or she is at home for an extended period of time. Our goal in this work was to provide you with activities that are aligned with what your children typically do during the school day to reinforce and extend their learning. No new learning will take place during this Distance Learning time. We worked to provide enough materials for each child to be engaged in academic learning for approximately two hours each day.
This newsletter page will serve as our "Distance Learning Launch Site." This page will be used as a place where you can access all the instructional material for each grade level. We will be updating the links in this Landing Site periodically as needed. Classroom teachers will be sending out weekly reminders with the link to this Launch Site.
Below, you will find "Blue Bars" to identify your child's grade level and then to link with the daily instructional material for each day. In each daily plan, children can start with the first activity and work their way down through the list. We worked to write the directions in "kid-friendly" language so children can be relatively independent as they work through the activities. If your child experiences any frustration, parents may provide any guidance and support in helping students complete the work. Also, please feel free to reach out to their teacher for support.
We certainly know there is a lot going on for families right now and recognize you may not be able to complete all of the activities given in a day....that is completely fine! Our intention is just to provide you with resources to keep your children actively learning and prevent regression while they are not coming to school.
If your child receives additional services, such as Special Education, EAGLES, RTI, speech therapy, or counseling, there are links provided on the Launch Site where you can access information about how to keep your child engaged in activities that will support their development in these areas. In addition, there is an Additional Resources bar that contains some additional activities that you may want to use with your children.
We appreciate your partnership as we navigate this unknown territory together. Please feel free to reach out to any of our staff members through email if you have any questions or concerns along the way. Stay healthy and be safe. We are WKE - We Lead, We Learn, We Love!
From our hearts to yours,
WKE Administrative Team
