Dear Cherokee Families,

Thank you for a wonderful January and for the continued support you show our students and staff. With seasonal sickness going around, we appreciate families contacting the school to report absences. Thank you as well for continuing to support reading at home and strong attendance, as both play an important role in your child’s success. We are grateful for our partnership and look forward to a great February ahead.

Important Dates

• Mid-term reports: Look for these to come home with your student.
• Friday, February 6:
• Cherokee Spirit Day - please wear a Cherokee shirt/colors or your favorite team jersey.
• Valentine's Dance from 6-8 PM.
• Monday, February 16, will serve as a make-up day for Johnson City Schools. This means it will be a regular school day.
• Friday, February 20: Cherokee Spirit Day - please wear a Cherokee shirt or colors

The lunch menu has been updated due to the snow days. Please see the lunch menu for the remainder of the week below.

Hello families! Our annual English Language Learner test will begin on Monday, February 9. We are so excited to see how much our students have learned over the past year. This will measure progress in four areas: Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing. The results help us understand how well your child is learning English and guide the instruction and support we provide. Please make sure your child gets a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast. Also, ask them to do their best on this very important test.

Girls On The Run registration opens February 2nd. Be on the lookout in your child's folder for a QR code for registration. Our season will begin on February 23rd. Contact Ms. Dykes at dykesm@jcschools.org with any questions.

Family Valentine's Dance
