The final half term of the year
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you had a lovely and refreshing half-term break with the children. It was a real treat to have a few sunny days—perfect for getting outdoors and enjoying some quality family time together.
As we return for the final seven weeks of the school year, there’s a real sense of excitement in the air. This is always such a special term—full of energy and celebration—as we recognise the children’s fantastic achievements and enjoy more opportunities for outdoor learning in the brighter, warmer weather.
We’re also preparing for an important change behind the scenes. Our transition to academy status has now been confirmed for 1st August. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be working hard to update our finance and payroll systems. We’re very much looking forward to joining the other schools in the Trust and all the opportunities that brings.
Next week brings one of the highlights of the term—Sports Day for Years 1 to 6! It will run in the same way as previous years, and a letter with all the details has been emailed out today. Please do keep an eye on the weather forecast—it’s always wise to send children with a sunhat, suncream already applied, and a raincoat, just in case! If your child needs a school packed lunch for the day, please remember to place your order by 6pm this evening.
Wishing you a joyful and sunshine-filled half term ahead.
Best wishes,
Vince Burke
Headteacher
Farewell to Mr Caulfield
It is with both sadness and warm wishes that we say goodbye to Mr Caulfield at the end of this term, as he sets off on an exciting new chapter of his life in Scotland and prepares for his upcoming wedding next year.
Over the past seven years, Mr Caulfield has been a valued part of our school community, working with children in Years 3 and Reception, as well as supporting many pupils in smaller groups to build confidence and skill in Maths. His gentle manner, dedication, and good humour have left a lasting mark on both children and staff alike.
We will miss him greatly, but send him off with all our love and very best wishes for the future. Scotland is lucky to have him, and we know he’ll bring the same warmth and care to this next adventure as he has to our school.
INSET Day
Don't forget that our closure for the final INSET day of the year will take place on Friday 13th June, the day after Sports Day.
Year Ahead Meetings
We have meetings at the end of the school year where you can meet your child's classteacher for next year and hear about the curriculum and classroom routines.
You can join us for these meetings in person and online. We will send the slides home and will try to record the meetings on Zoom - invites will be sent out via Class Dojo a few days before.
These are the September 2025 year groups - make sure to come to the correct meeting!
Years 1 and 2 Tuesday 8th July at 9am.
Years 3 and 4 Tuesday 1st July at 9am.
Years 5 and 6 Tuesday 15th July at 9am.
We will aim for the meetings to be 30 minutes.
