Weekly Wrap-Up #34: 05/15/2026
Wrapping up This Week + News for the Weeks to Come
From the Principal's Mind...
Wasn't that fun? I loved the joy I saw as kids were soaking their friends and teachers at the dunk tank. I loved seeing former Garfield students come back and step into leadership.
Lots of special activities this last week. Check it out!
Still the talent show to look forward to and then summer fun!
This is the time of year that changes happen in a school and I wanted to share as we go. The hiring process is a time consuming process. We take our time to ensure the very best fit for our students and our school. Melanie Jackson is stepping up to teach math and science with Mr. Thomas, our literacy/social studies teacher to our 5th graders. Our 4th grade team remains unchanged with Mrs. Thomas and Ms. Speidel making magic happen. Mrs. Weihman will teach 3rd grade. We will have two 1st-2nd grade teachers next year, Mrs. Carr and Mrs. Perkins. Dr. Fodness will continue to teach kindergarten. If enrollment numbers continue to increase, we will hire to meet the need. Also, Mrs. Lamb will return to be our half time GE teacher and continue as our half time instructional coach.
Make some memories in the sun! As always, feel free to reach out with questions or suggestions.

DISTRICT MESSAGE REGARDING CMAS DATA
We want to express our deeply felt gratitude for supporting your students and our schools during state testing for CMAS, COALT, PSAT, and SAT! Your support is invaluable to our students, schools, and the district as a whole.
This year, all state testing was submitted digitally, allowing an earlier-than-ever return on your student’s results!
PSAT and SAT results available starting May 15th
CMAS, all subject results available May 29th
CoAlt Science and Social Studies, available May 29th
CoAlt, ELA and Math, available by June 1st
PSAT and SAT scores will be released through the student’s College Board account.
CMAS (all subjects) and CoAlt (science and social studies) results can be accessed through CDE’s Family Portal.
CoAlt ELA and Math results will be available to view through the KITE Parent Portal. CDE has created a DLM Kite Parent Portal User Guide for the NEW Kite portal, explaining everything from logging in to viewing and using the platform's score report walkthrough feature.
To access results through either the CDE or KITE Portals, you will need your student’s 10-digit State ID number, birthdate, and student’s Full Legal name. Required log-in information can be found within your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Follow these directions for finding your student’s information within the Thompson School District’s Parent Portal.
As the state moves to an all-digital platform, our district will no longer be receiving paper copies of our students' state testing results. The best way to view results is via the Portal links above. However, if you desire a printed copy of your student’s results*, please reach out to your school to arrange for this accommodation.
Thank you for your continued support of your students and our schools!

Construction Update for the Week of 5/18-5/22
Below are project updates from this week, as well as for the upcoming week (May 11th-15th):
- Tuesday’s storm brought some much-needed moisture but temporarily halted work for a few days. With the snow now melted, crews are focusing on cleaning up mud and excess water throughout the project area.
- On Monday, the concrete crew poured curb, gutter, and sidewalk along the east leg of West 10th Street on the south side adjacent to the apartment complex.
- Before the storm arrived, the pipe crew completed the tie-in and flow-filled the remaining section at 10th Street and Colorado Avenue. Crews are allowing the intersection time to dry before resuming work in that area.
- Connell Resources is also cleaning up the project staging area and removing excess materials in preparation for final site restoration once the project is completed, anticipated by mid-June 2026.
- The concrete crew will continue progressing west along the south side of 10th Street from Colorado Avenue to Douglas Avenue. Work will be completed one access point at a time to help residents maintain access to their properties. For the property with only a single access point, crews are coordinating closely with the resident and will use high-early-strength concrete so access is only impacted for one day.
- The base crew will return to continue reconstruction and cleanup work at the 10th Street and Colorado Avenue intersection. The concrete crew will also complete replacement sections of sidewalk, curb, gutter, and cross pans in the area.
- The base crew will also begin removing sections of the north half of 10th Street where additional drainage improvements are needed to carry water across the roadway from north to south.
Thank you for your patience as the city enters the final weeks of this project - a major effort that began five years ago. More updates will be shared as we continue moving toward project completion.
Weather permitting, work activities are Monday - Friday, 7:00 am-5:00 pm.
