Growing Readers & Let's Read Georgia! Growing Readers & Let's Read Georgia!

HB 538 and SB 48 is replaced by HB_307. Georgia_Early_Literacy_and_Dyslexia_Act_Summary.pdf compiles all the updates from Georgia’s Literacy Act and Dyslexia laws expanding our opportunities for supporting literacy coaching in Georgia. To support literacy coaching, and the teaching of reading in our elementary schools in the CSRA, we welcome the expansion of Let’s Read Georgia Regional Literacy Coaches and Growing Readers Specialists. Literacy coaching is crucial for improving reading instruction and grade-level reading because it provides teachers with the necessary support and resources to enhance their teaching practices.

Our commitment is to

Charge stakeholders to invest in high quality literacy professional learning and support for all educators, first and foremost.

Support and empower educators to better instruct readers based on the science of reading research and provide useful knowledge and skills that educators can apply in their classrooms.

Relinquish practices that lack evidence of effectiveness for learning to read.

Anchor literacy instruction in scientific evidence-based practices.

There were 40 new TAPP teachers who attended the Essentials Course on June 2–June 13, 2025.

We partnered with McDuffie County to observe summer school at Dearing Elementary and Thomson High School. The teachers were able to complete some “out of field” observation hours required by the GATAPP Program. We’re so grateful for this experience.
