Deer Hill's Class Placement Process: Deer Hill's class placement process for entering grade 4 and grade 5 students has informally begun. More formal planning will begin after break where staff will have multiple meetings spanning several days to build thoughtful class cohorts. Please see this placement letter (updated from last year) which outlines our process in greater detail, including the role of families.

Grade 5 Transition to Cohasset Middle School: Recently grade 5 families received a letter from John Mills, principal of Cohasset Middle School, that details important dates as students make the transition to 6th grade. Here is a copy of that letter for your reference.

Hero Spirit Day and Author Visit: On Wednesday, April 2 the Deer Hill PSO hosted author Shawn Peters who held an assembly for each grade level as well as a lunch session for students who had completed his book. Mr. Peters was a dynamic, interactive speaker. Along with our Hero Spirit Day, it was a great way to mark Autism Awareness Day. Thank you, PSO!

CPS Purposeful Play & Risk Challenge

Each month Superintendent Shannon includes a suggestion for purposeful play and developmentally appropriate risk. There's still time for our March challenge!

Keeping up with our Anxious Generation purposeful play and responsible risk taking challenges, I am inviting you to join in on our March activities. This month, our challenges are:

Purposeful Play Challenge

March is here! Daylight lasts longer, I can hear the peepers, and the plants are popping up. Take advantage of the warmer weather and sunshine and take a family walk on the beach! While you're there, skip some rocks, build a sandcastle, or have a catch.

Responsible Risk Taking Challenge

This month is all about getting outside in the warmer weather and sunshine. Find a spot to take a hike. There are so many great spots locally -Turkey Hill, Wheelwright, Great Esker Park, Blue Hills, Borderland State Park. Choose a hike that is at the right challenge level for you and your child and let them try something new ~ climb a new rock, climb a tree, explore a new pay.
