9th Grade Vision Screening – March 17–18
All 9th grade students will participate in a brief vision screening on March 17 and 18 conducted by the Oakland County Health Division (OCHD). This quick screening helps identify any potential vision concerns that could impact students’ learning in the classroom.
If a student does not pass the screening, families will be notified with information about recommended next steps.
If you have additional questions about the screening, please contact the Oakland County Health Division at 248-424-7070.
Student Attendance
As we continue to increase communication with families through phone calls, Skyward messages, and letters home regarding student attendance, we are noticing a growing number of students who have already reached 10 or more absences this semester, which is the threshold for a student to be considered chronically absent.
Each day a student is absent means they miss approximately six hours of learning, along with important classroom instruction, collaboration, and support from their teachers. Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in student success.
Families, please be sure to monitor your child’s attendance in Skyward and encourage them to be in school each day. If a student must miss school, it should be for limited and necessary reasons.
If your family needs support related to attendance, please do not hesitate to reach out to a member of our administrative or counseling team. We are here to partner with you to support your student’s success.

Seniors: The FAFSA is currently open and ALL families should be completing the FAFSA if they are planning on attending any type of formal training after high school. The FAFSA is the key to receiving scholarships and funding through the State of Michigan and other programs. See your counselor with any questions.
As seniors are nearing the home stretch to graduation, just a reminder to all that they must complete their state mandated Educational Development Plans (EDPs) on Xello. Directions for this have been posted in the counseling Google classroom, and are printed in the career center. Any questions can be directed to Mrs. Bryant at janeenbryant@wlcsd.org
