WME Weekly Newsletter 10/19/2026
Important Information and Updates!
Welcome back, WILDCATS!
We hope you enjoyed a fun and relaxing fall break with your families.
We’re excited to see your smiling faces back at school!
Let’s start this new week with kind hearts, curious minds, and a ready-to-learn attitude!!!
BE A PROBLEM SOLVER
Because doing things for yourself when you can (and asking for help when you really need it) builds confidence and prepares you for the future.
DEDICATION
This week's PRIDE expectation is DEDICATION!
DEDICATION means working hard and not giving up on something important to you!
FRIDAY IS PINK OUT DAY!
Friday is our special Pink Out Day. We aren't just wearing pink to look bright—we are wearing it to show that our school chooses kindness. Grab your favorite pink shirt, socks, or accessories!
Take a moment to recognize a DCSD staff member whose dedication and commitment make a lasting difference in the lives of students, colleagues, schools, and the broader community.
The Apple Awards celebrate educators and staff members who consistently go above and beyond—whether by creating meaningful learning experiences, introducing innovative ideas, supporting students through challenges, strengthening relationships, or helping build a more inclusive and welcoming school community. These exceptional individuals inspire others through their leadership, compassion, creativity, and unwavering commitment to student success.
Know someone who deserves to be celebrated? Nominate them for an Apple Award! Your nomination is an opportunity to shine a light on the educators, school professionals, and staff members whose everyday efforts have a meaningful and lasting impact. Let’s make sure the outstanding people who inspire, innovate, serve, and make a difference across DCSD receive the recognition they truly deserve.
As we prepare for our First Grade Veterans Day Performance, we would love to honor the Veterans who are special to our WME families!
We invite families to send in a photo of a Veteran who is a family member or close family friend. These photos will be used to create a special digital Veterans Day slideshow that will be displayed on the TVs throughout our school and during our First Grade Veterans Day Performance.!
Please include with your photo:
- Veteran’s first and last name
- Branch of the U.S. Military in which they served
Please send these to sachristensen@dcsdk12.org by Thursday, November 5th.
Thank you for helping us recognize and celebrate the brave men and women who have served our country. We are excited to give our students the opportunity to see and honor the Veterans who are important to our school community!

WME PRIDE WINNERS!
Each week we focus on our PRIDE virtues of:
Perseverance
Respect & Responsibility
Integrity
Dedication
Empathy
Students earn Positive Paw stickers from any staff member who sees them demonstrating these virtues. When they earn a Positive Paw their name is then entered into their classroom PRIDE bucket. Every Friday, classroom teachers will choose one PRIDE winner by drawing a name from their PRIDE bucket. Our weekly winners will have their name published in the Weekly Communication email and their picture will be shown on our school-wide T.V.s throughout the week! PRIDE Winners also get to recite the School Pledge and WME Song on Wildcat Wednesdays!
