Letter From the Directors
Dear PCK Families,
We were grateful for the strong level of engagement at this week’s Safety Meeting. It is a privilege to have community members who are so involved and invested in the safety and well-being of their children’s school.
During the meeting, we discussed the recent increase in secure statuses at the school. For clarification, a secure status is implemented when there is a suspected threat or an active hazard outside of the building. This is a precautionary measure. During a secure, no one is permitted to enter or exit the building while the situation is assessed or until the hazard has passed.
We encourage all staff members to speak up if they see something concerning. Research consistently shows that in many school tragedies, someone had an indication that something might be wrong beforehand. By empowering staff members to report suspicious activity, we strengthen our ability to keep our school community safe.
We also encourage parents to talk with their children and have open conversations about these types of situations. At school, students receive training from their teachers, administration, and our School Resource Officer so they understand what to do in the event of an emergency. Our goal is to ensure that students feel informed and prepared should a situation ever arise.
Thank you again to the community members who participated in this meaningful conversation. We hope it helped provide greater clarity about how our school works to maintain a safe environment for all students.
Warmly,
Dr. Leanne Weyman

Spotlight
This week, our 5th grade students had the opportunity to perform for their families and showcase their musical talents during their ukulele concerts. Each year, students learn to play the ukulele as part of their music education, building their skills throughout the year and culminating in a multi-song concert that highlights their hard work and mastery of the instrument.
At PCK, music is far more than an “extra” class. Research shows that learning to play an instrument can strengthen verbal memory, improve reading ability, and support the development of executive functioning skills. These are important abilities that carry over into the classroom and help students grow into lifelong learners.
Thank you to our music team for their dedication in guiding students as they develop the knowledge and skills needed to learn an instrument, and to our families who came out to support our students during these performances.
Wax Museum
No, you aren't having Halloween déjà vu, this is just 2nd grade's Wax Museum! For these presentations, each student researches a significant historical figure, learning about their early life, major accomplishments, and the ways they positively impacted the world.
Students then transform into their chosen figure, standing at attention and delivering their presentation to any audience member interested in hearing their story. Through this experience, students gain a deeper understanding of how historical figures overcame adversity and how their perseverance helped shape history.
AmeriTowne and International Towne
Last week, 5th and 6th grade students had the opportunity to visit AmeriTowne and International Towne. During these experiences, students stepped into real-world roles by taking on jobs that help a community thrive. At AmeriTowne, 5th grade students learned different trades, and how businesses and local economies function, while at International Towne 6th grade students represented different countries and participated in a global marketplace.
Through these hands-on activities, students practiced financial responsibility, explored different trades, and gained a better understanding of how local and global economies work.
A big thank you to all of the volunteers and chaperones who helped make this meaningful and impactful field trip possible!
Dress Down Day
We’ll be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow, Friday, March 13, with a themed dress down day! Students are encouraged to join in the fun by wearing green, clovers, gold, or other festive St. Patrick’s Day attire.
As a reminder, all students must still follow the PCK Dress Code on themed dress-down days. This means pajamas, slippers, Crocs, and any other items prohibited by the dress code are not allowed.
Art
As you head out on your spring break adventures, keep an eye out for rocks that could help with our school beautification project! We’re looking for flat rocks about three to five inches in diameter to help bring this project to life.
If you’re hiking, visiting the beach, or exploring outdoors, look for rocks shaped a bit like a pancake that are flat, round, and smooth. These will be perfect for a surprise improvement project we’ll be putting together over the summer.
Thank you to the many families who have already donated rocks for this project. We truly appreciate your generosity and support!

From the SAC
This week, the SAC met and heard a presentation from PCK’s Finance Director, Heather Chapman, regarding the school’s budget for the 2026-27 school year.
The committee also discussed the upcoming release of the End-of-Year Survey for the 2025-26 school year. This year, the survey will include an increased focus on parent satisfaction with school culture, as well as the key reasons families choose to return to PCK year after year.
The survey is completely anonymous, and all feedback will be reviewed by PCK Administration to help gauge satisfaction across the many elements that make up our school community. Please keep an eye out for the survey’s release in the near future. Your feedback plays an important role in helping shape the future of our school.
The next SAC meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8 at 8:15 a.m.
Volunteer Spotlight
For this week’s Volunteer Spotlight, we would like to highlight a generous contribution from the U.S. Tennis Association. Our PE department recently received a donation made in partnership with the Parker Racquet Club to help expose students to the unique sport of tennis.
Because tennis can often be inaccessible to many students, having this equipment available will give our students the opportunity to learn and practice a new skill during PE. Through this partnership, community member Steve Prosowski donated 30 tennis racquets, tennis balls, and a carrying case. These items will be used as part of the PE department’s tennis unit.
Thank you to the U.S. Tennis Association, Parker Racquet Club, and Steve for this thoughtful and generous contribution to benefit PCK students. Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated!
