A Message From Mrs. Carmody
Dear Fremont Families,
As we head into the warmer weeks, I want to acknowledge the natural excitement that comes with the change in season. While it is wonderful to see the weather improve, please remind your children that we still have learning to accomplish this school year. Try to avoid phrases like, "You are almost a first grader!" Children have complicated feelings this time of year. They feel excitement for summer activities, but many also feel sadness about leaving their current group of friends and teacher.
To help maintain this momentum, I encourage you to partner with us in emphasizing the importance of consistency. A great way to support this at home is by maintaining your established evening and morning routines, even as the days grow longer. Strong, restorative sleep will help them manage the excitement of spring while keeping their focus during the school day. Thank you for your continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Beth Carmody
Principal
Students in Mrs. Buschick’s class have been busy diving into creative design challenges and exploring new ideas, buzzing with the energy of future engineers, architects, artists, teachers, doctors, and big thinkers. We are excited to see their curiosity grow as they learn to work together and solve problems.

Your feedback matters! If you have not yet done so, please take 3 minutes to complete our community survey to share your feedback, including your level of satisfaction with the District. We need your help to achieve our goal of at least 20 percent parent participation.

Virtual Parent Transition Night Recap
Fremont PTO and District administrators hosted a Parent Transition Night forum on April 14 for families with students transitioning to the intermediate or middle schools for the 2026-27 school year. Thank you to everyone who participated, making it a wonderful discussion. If you missed the presentation, a recording that features both sessions can be found below.
Pilot Program: Enhancing Student Safety with Raptor DismissalSafe
Dear Parents and Guardians,
At Fremont School District 79, our priority is the safety and security of our students from the moment they arrive until they are safely back in your care. We are excited to announce a pilot program for our K-2 students at Fremont Elementary School utilizing Raptor DismissalSafe, a system designed to add an extra layer of protection to our daily dismissal process.
Why the Change? The primary goal of this pilot is to increase accountability and efficiency. Raptor DismissalSafe creates a real-time digital log for the dismissal of every student, featuring:
Unique Pickup Identification: Each authorized pickup person will be assigned a Unique Security ID code, ensuring that our staff can quickly and securely verify who is picking up your child.
Integration with our Student Information System: This ensures seamless data continuity and minimizes the risk of manual errors.
Secure Release Logs: Each pickup is time-stamped, providing an accurate, permanent record of exactly when your child was dismissed.
Faster Carline Flow: By displaying your Unique Security ID, our staff can “check you in” when you enter the pickup lane. This builds a real-time digital queue, allowing us to have students ready and waiting when you reach the loading zone.
What do I need to do?
Look for your ID: The District will be providing you with a unique identifier. Please adhere this to your current parent pickup card if issued.
Pickup Dates: From 4/20/26 through 4/24/26, we will be handing out identifiers directly to cars in the pickup line. If you are unable to collect yours, then you may stop by the front office anytime after 4/24/26.
App Access (Optional but Encouraged): We encourage you to install the Raptor Safe app. This allows you to manage dismissal options, schedules, and your list of authorized pickup persons directly from your phone.
You can learn more about the system here: Raptor Dismissal Management System
Tick Notification
There has been a rise in tick exposures among children and staff in our building. Ticks are small parasites with 8 legs. They come in different colors and sizes. They can be light-colored, reddish-brown, or dark brown. Ticks mainly live in grassy and wooded areas and are more common in the warmer months. They attach themselves to people and pets and then feed off blood. Ticks can pass on disease like Lyme disease, Rocky Mountains potted fever and others. It is important to take steps to avoid tick bites.
What you can do to prevent ticks:
*Before you go outdoors
- Treat clothing, gear and yourself with and EPA-approved insect repellent
- Avoid wooded areas
- Check the body, hair and clothing for ticks
- Examine pets
- Shower after being outdoors
- Keep bushes trimmed and grass mowed in the yard
What the school is doing to prevent ticks:
- Spraying of playground and surrounding area scheduled for early May.
- Frequent lawn mowing to keep grass low.
- Teachers and supervisors are having students conduct tick checks upon coming indoors from recess, PE or other outdoor activities.
What to do after a tick bite:
- Simply remove the tick as soon as possible
o Use clean, fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin surface as possible.
o Pull upward with steady, even pressure. Don’t twist or jerk the tick.
o After removing the tick, thoroughly clean the site with soap and water, rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer.
o Get rid of the tick by placing it in a sealed bag or container, wrap it in tape, or flush it down the toilet. (Testing of ticks is not recommended)
If you develop a rash, body aches, chills or fever within weeks after removing a tick, contact your
doctor.
