Memorial Update

Good Morning Memorial Families,

Tomorrow is the third annual Memorial Fun Run! Thank you to all of our families for engaging in our biggest fundraiser of the year. If you are coming to cheer your child on, here is the schedule for viewing. You do not need to stop by the office, just head right on back to the field to cheer them on!

Grades K and 1: 9:30-10:30

Grade 4: 10:45-11:45

Grades 2 and 3: 1:15-2:15

We look forward to seeing many of you there.

We have been receiving some questions about our school pictures this year. We have contracted with a new photography company, Coffee Pond. One of the options that they gave us for school pictures was to take them outside, weather permitting. The foliage is beautiful, and the proofs I have seen from other schools who have gone this route are absolutely stunning. That said, the one caveat to choosing this option is that if it rains, and we have to move them indoors, all students will receive the same "foliage" background for their pictures. Right now the weather is not looking favorable, but hopefully the forecast changes a bit. Fingers crossed that it is a nice day on Friday, because outdoor photos are really special. Also, class photos are complimentary through Coffee Pond, so that is why there is no place to order them on the form.

Finally, I have two opportunities for families to join in some fun in school. First, we will be holding our third annual Cardboard Creation Day on Friday, October 30th. Students will spend 40 minutes in the gym with their grade level during their specials block that Friday building and creating with cardboard. It is always such a fun day for the children, and we love having parent volunteers come in to help us. You can volunteer during your child's time or for longer if you'd like. Please reach out to me directly if you are interested in helping.

Second, we are hoping to start a program that has been successful at the other elementary school called Cafeteria Conversations. Caregivers can sign up to come in during lunch to eat with small groups of students and help facilitate appropriate social conversations at lunchtime. We would provide some topic cards, or you can come up with your own if you like. Lunches last for about 25 minutes, so if you have some time in the middle of your day and you would like to participate, please complete this form and I will be in touch with you.

Spooktacular Trunk or Treat – October 22: We’re looking for parents to join the planning committee and families, businesses, and community groups to host a trunk!
