Staying Connected, December 8, 2024

Santa ClaraClarionStaying Connected, December 8, 2024

It was another blessed week. Some highlights were a great First Sunday of Advent, kettles, new volunteers, and teen night and service project. Last night we had a wonderful crew that came out to volunteer at the Holiday Caltrain event. Our jobs? Pass out candy canes, collect donations, and bring the love of the Lord to the crowds. But, my most memorable moment was not caught on camera. It was a time of sharing, when a man broke down in tears sharing about the loss of his wife and his job on the same day. His fear of being alone through the struggles poured out of every word he spoke. Somehow just listening to Him, God encouraged Him, even though he probably didn't know it at the time. He left with a smile. It reminded me what Christmas is all about - God with us - through the loneliness ... fear .. brokenness ... uncertainty ... Jesus, the Prince of Peace, came to save us from an existence without God, to a life connected with Father, bringing us hope. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Young adults are called by God and chosen for a purpose greater. It is important for each to understand that their true identity is found in Christ, who is the foundation of everything. As each grows in faith, we pray that they step confidently into their God-given purpose, knowing that they are part of a much larger story—God's story.

Scripture: "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." - 1 Peter 2:9
