As we enter the start of the November 1 - March 31 dress code guidelines, I thought it would be important for some reminders on the school dress code here at St Patrick Catholic School.

Beginning Monday, November 3rd shorts may not be worn again until April 1st. Girls may continue to wear skirts, skorts or jumpers as long as they wear leggings or tights under them. Leggings and tights may only be worn under skirts, skorts and jumpers. Leggings may never be worn without wearing a skirt, jumper, or shorts over them.

Tops: Solid colors: white, navy, dark green, pastel blue, pastel yellow, and gray, no logos other than the official St. Patrick Catholic School logos. Collared shirts must be worn and tucked in. They may be long or short-sleeved but not sleeveless. Sweaters, crew neck, V-neck, cardigan and sweater vests, with no hood may be worn. Sweatshirts with hoods may not be worn during classes.

Bottoms: Solid colors of khaki, gray, navy or black with the following restrictions: No outside pockets on the leg, i.e., “cargo” style, no leggings, jeggings or yoga pants worn as pants. No elastic-gathered legs.

Starting in 3rd grade all students should have their polo shirts tucked and be wearing a belt if belt loops are present.

Skirts, Skorts and Jumpers (Girls only) – May be worn in solid navy, khaki, or the Christopher plaid (Christopher plaid available only from Dennis Uniform): Skirts, skorts and jumpers must not be more than 3 inches above the middle of the knee.

Special Occasion Attire: Special occasion attire days includes every Friday, off campus field trips and special occasions. Our official St. Patrick t-shirt can be worn with uniform bottoms every Friday, unless noted otherwise by an administrator.

Charger Friday: This occurs on the final calendar Friday of each month, and permits students to wear all other Charger tops, including Columbus Catholic Sailor tops. Once again, hooded sweatshirts may not be worn during classes. Regular school uniform bottoms must be worn on Charger Friday. Students who choose not to participate in special occasion attire shall dress per regular dress code requirements. Our next Charger Friday will be January 30th.

Due to parent teacher conferences this week, we will not have school on Friday, October 31st.

This means there will be no school, preschool, daycare or Circle of Care available. Enjoy your long Halloween weekend!

Don't forget that Daylight saving time ends Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, with clocks rolling back one hour at 2 a.m. Enjoy your extra hour of sleep during our 3 day weekend!

This year we will be offering a Japanese Culture Club once a month from November through May. It will be led by Maoko Umeda from the Office of International Engagement at UNI. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about Japanese culture, traditions, and life. This group is open to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade and will meet on the second Monday of each month from 3:25-4:15 p.m. A $5 registration fee is required and there is a maximum of 15 participants. Girls basketball practice will start on Monday, November 3rd.

The 7th/8th graders will practice at 3:30 p.m. and the 5th/6th grade team at 4:30 p.m.

Just a reminder that Transportation Reimbursement Request forms for the first semester will be due soon. If you live more than 2 miles from school and transport your students to and/or from school, you may be eligible for state reimbursement. If you did not already submit your first semester form at registration time, fill out the form for your district at the link below and return it to school office:

An additional form for the second semester may be turned in after January 1. Contact the school office if you have any questions.

Today, Thursday, October 30th, is the last day students may wear shorts.

If your child needs pants, additional clothing, or a different size from the free uniform closet, please complete this Google form by November 14th. Our uniform coordinators will check availability and contact you directly.

We also welcome donations of gently used uniform items that your children have outgrown. You may drop them off at the school office anytime.

The Knights of Columbus at St. Patrick Church are leading a project to purchase and install a statue of St. Carlo Acutis at the front of St. Patrick School.The Knights have donated $3,000 towards the cost of the project, which has an estimated cost of $7,500. Last weekend, our Confirmation candidates at St. Patrick Church gathered for a day of faith, reflection, and community during our Confirmation Retreat. Many of our St. Patrick School alumni are pictured above. This years theme was "Called and Qualified"- reminding candidates of our call to mission with Christ at Baptism, and that the Holy Spirit gives us so many gifts to make our collaboration with God possible.

To keep everyone informed of unexpected changes in the school schedule due to weather, or other important announcements, we use the Remind app alert notification system. In addition to this, we send out an email from the school and post the information on our social media pages. For changes due to weather, we also inform KWWL.

Strawbridge Photography will be here on Nov. 13th for our school picture retake day. If your child did not have their picture taken on our original school picture day, they will need to be photographed that morning. If you would like to have your child's picture retaken, bring your original photo packet with your student to return that day. You can go to Strawbridge.net to place your online order.

Check out our apparel store with Iowa Sport Supply to help with school approved uniform needs. All orders are placed directly through Iowa Sport Supply and take 3-4 weeks to be ready for pick up.

We are now utilizing a new online bill pay system. EZSchoolPay can be used to pay your lunch balances, Circle of Care fees, preschool fees, etc.

This system is used as a family account, therefore you only need the information for one student per family when registering, and payments need to be made for one family member to be shared with siblings. Multiple lunch and Circle of Care payments are not necessary, as these are family accounts.

October invoices have the website and student number necessary for creating an account.
