MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Dear Eagles,
On Thursday morning, I received LMSA’s initial budget allocation for School Year 2026. As forecasted, it includes reductions in funding and positions. In the spirit of transparency, I want to clarify the broader budget picture and the messaging from various sources. The current CPS budget assumes an additional $300 million from the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago’s TIF fund. CPS leadership is actively pushing for this support. I encourage you to join the push for additional funding by contacting your local representatives to advocate for using TIF funds to offset the CPS budget deficit. Without that funding, CPS may revise school budgets again this summer. While this is difficult news, I want to emphasize that this is only the starting point in the budget process.
My top priority remains protecting our instructional programs and preserving the programs that make Lindblom an incredible place to learn and teach. I will be as creative as possible in this process to ensure learning remains uninterrupted and minimize the impact on students and staff. I remain committed to transparency and collaboration as we navigate what lies ahead.
As I shared last week, we are committed to using our 5 Essentials data to support our students and shape our school culture and climate. Our data shows we have a strong, schoolwide future orientation. This measure is important because it reflects our collective focus on the why: to create a supportive, inclusive, and challenging community where students can excel academically, grow personally, and become engaged citizens who understand, engage, and impact the world. Students, staff, and leaders share a vested interest in keeping our eyes on the horizon, preparing our students for life after high school graduation.
Onward and upward,
Principal Banks

Colloquium Day GSA Pride Parade at Lindblom
At Lindblom, our belief pillars—being inclusive, supportive, empowering, and impactful—guide everything we do. The GSA Pride Parade is an optional student-led celebration that reflects our commitment to creating a safe, affirming space for all students, including those in the LGBTQ+ community. The GSA Pride Parade fosters understanding, encourages leadership, and promotes a culture of respect and belonging. By hosting this event, we live our values and empower students to lead with compassion and courage.

Information on all meetings that have been scheduled thus far is available on the Board of Education website, which will continue to be updated. Whichever meeting you choose to attend, please RSVP.
If you cannot attend a meeting, please consider taking advantage of these additional engagement opportunities:
- Community Survey. A community survey will be shared with stakeholders in the near future. This will be an opportunity for you to share what you feel is working well in CPS and identify areas where you would like to see improvement.
- Focus Groups and On-Site Interviews. Representatives from Alma Advisory Group, the Board’s executive search partner, will visit select CPS locations to gather input from staff and community members on the next Superintendent/CEO. Details on these sessions will be provided soon.
- Regular Updates. I encourage everyone to check the CPS BOE website regularly to monitor the status of the Superintendent/CEO search and learn more about the numerous opportunities to participate in the process.
We thank you for your interest and look forward to your partnership as we work to identify the next leader of Chicago Public Schools.
Sincerely,

Building Hours
This is a friendly reminder that our building hours are from 7:00 am until 5:30 pm. We are noticing that students are wandering the buidling after school hours because they are not in programs. This sometimes leads them into unsupervised areas which is a safety concern. Students should not be in the building after 5:30 pm (with the exception of clubs and sports).
Library Book Return
Attention students: All library books will be due by June 6. Staff and students who have not returned library books by this date will be responsible for replacing the book with another copy of the same title.
BE ENGAGED
On Friday, Principal Banks and AP Meadows met with Alderwoman Coleman and 16th Ward representatives, CPS City Council Liaison Jamel Chambers, and N16 NOM Sonia Castro to discuss ways we can partner to improve traffic safety in our immediate area as well as strengthen LMSA’s partnership and engagement within our ward.
