Below is the message I shared with our students on Friday morning:

Maximize Positive Relationships- There are people in life that will make you feel better and people in your life that will make you feel worse. You always want to make sure you spend the most time with the people who make you feel great! The positive people are the ones that help you become a better person and make good choices.

WEEKLY RECAP

It was another busy week at PES!

Our Thursday was jam packed with a Veteran's Day assembly and a Pep Rally to send the Football Team on their way to a State Championship!

In preparation for the Veteran's Day Assembly, the third graders wrote letters to Veterans, thanked them for their service, and invited them to the assembly on Thursday. It was a nice gesture that was well received! A couple of Veteran's responded, and a few took the time to stop in the classroom and talk to our students. It was a powerful experience for all involved.

We also had the food drive going this week. We had wonderful participation from all of our students. We turned the food drive into a competition and Group #3, our 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade students earned the most points. However, with an event like this, I always remind the students that we are all winners because we are helping others!

The last thing I wanted to reference is a kindness chain that our student council started this week. Students are tracking their acts of kindness for the month of November. With each act, we create a link on a paper chain that is spreading its way down our hallway. It is a great idea and tangible way for students to see how one act of kindness can spread to multiple people.

The idea behind all of the things we are doing this month is "We are Connected" We are really working hard to help our students understand that everyone in the Parkston School District and Community is connected and the more good we do for one another the better!
