Week of Monday, October 13, 2025 (Week 8)
PRINCIPAL PRATHER'S POST
Dear Woods Lake Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you well! As I embrace another exciting week at Woods Lake Elementary, I want to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation for your continued support and partnership. Together, we are creating a vibrant learning environment for our students! Last week, our mass cmmunication system was down, and I was unable to send the last week's email to you via Blackboard or send out robocalls. Thank you for your understanding.
Important Announcements:
Family Newsletter Changes
Starting next week, Family Newsletters will be delivered on Mondays instead of Sundays.
Fundraising Events
This week, we have two fundraisers taking place:
- Popcorn and Pickle Sale: Students can bring in $1.00 to buy a bag of popcorn or a pickle. All funds collected will support our school. A huge thank you to our PTO for organizing this fundraiser! The bag of popcorn or pickle will be delivered ro your child's classroom on Friday.
- Walking with Purpose: Throughout October, our entire school is participating in this fundraiser. Staff and students are seeking sponsors for the miles they walk. We are in competition with other schools, and the top lower and upper elementary classes will earn a class party for the most donations. Our entire building also has a chance to win a trophy for being the top school among other elementary schools!
Go, Woods Lake Wolverines! Let's walk with purpose!
Celebrations
Hispanic Heritage Celebration
Friday, October 3rd, we celebrated Hispanic Heritage with the help of many volunteers from Western Michigan University. Our students engaged in creative artwork alongside these young adults and showcased their dance moves to vibrant Hispanic music. It was a joyful experience for everyone involved! Go Bronco! We appreciate all of the volunteers!
A special thank you to our amazing home school support specialist, Mrs. Orbe for organizing this event!
Count Day Success
We are thrilled to report that Count Day was a success, with the majority of our students in attendance! Our goal remains to achieve 100% attendance. To help reach this goal, we will be reaching out to families who were absent, as we want to welcome them back to school as soon as possible. This is essential for maximizing our funding!
Thank You to Our PTO
A HUGE thank you to our PTO for assisting with Picture Day a couple of weeks ago. Your support is invaluable, and we appreciate all that you do!

Dismissal and Office Reminders
Thank you for your attention to our dismissal procedures. To make changes to your child(ren)'s regular dismissal plan, please call the front office to inform the secretaries before 3 PM. We cannot authorize a different bus change on the same day; any changes must be approved by the KPS Transportation Department first.
If you would like to pick up your child, who typically rides the bus, please ensure you call our front office before 3 PM.
Office will shut down from 3:30 PM until last bus leaves the school. This means that phone calls will not be accepted, and doors will be locked until our dismissal procedures are completed. Our goal is to give all of our staff the time to ensure that all of our students are getting home safely.
The office will open up as soon as dismissal has ended until 4:30 PM. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
