MCS SCHOOL POLICY ON CELL PHONES
UPDATED CELL PHONE AND WEARABLE DEVICE POLICY
At the June Board of Education meeting, the School Board approved updates to Policy 6.312 in response to a new Tennessee state law (HB 932/SB 897). This legislation restricts the use of personal wireless communication devices, such as cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, and similar items, in schools.
Our policy requires that these devices be turned off and stored out of sight for the entire school day, unless specifically permitted for educational purposes by a teacher or administrator, or allowed under a student’s IEP or health plan. For CGIS students, this means no phones from 7:00am-2:40pm each day.
We believe this change will have a positive impact on student health, behavior, and focus by reducing distractions and preserving valuable learning time.

CGIS Yearbooks will be on sale now through March 11, 2026. You can use the link below to order online.

Order forms will also be sent home soon if you prefer to pay with cash or check.
It is important to note that this is the only time frame that yearbooks will be for sale. No orders will be accepted after March 11, 2026.
We are also looking for pictures of your child in basketball, cheerleading, clubs, or any other activity they do for the yearbook! Feel free to email your pictures to stephanie.sweet@maryville-schools.org
Students are limited to ten (10) excused days with parental notes for the year. Any absences beyond those ten (10), without medical or legal documentation, will be unexcused.
We ask our families to keep sick children at home. If you are unsure or have questions regarding MCS procedures for student illnesses, please contact our school nurse.
