FIELD DAY VOLUNTEERS....Important Field Day Message From Mr. Jordan
Dear South Elementary Families,
It’s getting close to that time of year, field day is right around the corner! We are all looking forward to a day of fun and excitement! This year, field day is scheduled for Thursday, June 5th. The rain date will be Thursday, June 12th. SES PTA is purchasing t-shirts for each student!
If you would like to volunteer, please go to Sign up Genius and select the grade level you would like to volunteer for. (Grades K-2 follow a different track than grades 3-5). Your help is very important for a successful and exciting day.
Please Note that we are limiting the number of volunteers to 150.
All Field Day volunteers should arrive at South Elementary School no later than 9:10 a.m. to check in and see your assigned station. Events will start promptly at 9:30 am and end no later than 2:00 pm.
Since volunteers will be very busy, we ask that you do not bring younger siblings. If you do not have an updated CORI on file by May 30th, we will take the next person on the waitlist.
Field Day is typically a sunny and warm day. Please remember to put sunscreen on your child before they arrive at school and pack a bottle of water. You may want to send them with a hat and/or sunglasses.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Don't forget that Wednesday May 7th is an Early Release Day!
Important Note to Families in Grade 3-5 - MCAS Next Week
We have Math MCAS starting next week with Science for Grade 5 to follow. Please see the schedule below to make sure our kids are prepared for test days.
You can help set your child up for success on MCAS days by ensuring they get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast before coming to school. These simple steps can make a big difference in helping them feel focused and ready to do their best.
We also want to emphasize that MCAS is nothing to be afraid of. At this point, we view MCAS as more of an assessment of us as a school—a tool that helps us understand what’s working well and where we may need to make adjustments to our curriculum. While we certainly want our students to try their hardest, we do not want them to feel stressed. This is simply an opportunity for them to show how hard they have been working all year.
Please reassure your child that their grades are not impacted by their MCAS performance. We just ask that they give their best effort and feel proud of all they have accomplished!
Thank you for your support, and please reach out if you have any questions.
