Summer Family Reptile Review 😎
June 2026🌴
Welcome to New River Elementary, Home of the Reptiles! 🦎
Dear New River Elementary Families,
As we wrap up another incredible school year, I want to take a moment to celebrate what we have accomplished together and look ahead to a wonderful summer.
This year has truly been remarkable for our Reptiles! Through hard work, perseverance, and dedication from our students, staff, and families, we achieved something historic—raising our school grade from a D to an A-, the first time in New River Elementary’s history. This achievement is something we should all be immensely proud of. It reflects the commitment each of you has shown to learning and growth.
I want to be honest—this year hasn’t always been easy. There were challenges along the way, and moments that pushed us to work harder than ever before. But it is exactly that determination and resilience that made this success possible. And without a doubt, it has all been worth it.
It has been a true privilege to spend this year with your children. They have inspired us daily with their effort, curiosity, and kindness. I am deeply grateful for your continued support and partnership—it makes all the difference.
📚 Summer Learning Matters
While summer is a time to relax and recharge, it’s also important to keep learning going so our students return ready for another strong year.
Here are a few simple ways to support your child:
- Read every day – Even 20 minutes a day makes a big difference in maintaining and growing literacy skills.
- Complete i-Ready Math lessons – Aim for at least 2 lessons per week, students will have access to iReady until mid-July. Rewards will be given in August for ALL students who work this challenge this summer!
- Use Lexia regularly – Consistent practice helps reinforce essential reading skills and builds confidence. This should be done independently as it is on your child's independent reading level.
A little practice each week will help prevent the “summer slide” and set your child up for success in August.
☀️ Enjoy the Summer
Most importantly, we hope you take this time to enjoy your children—make memories, explore, relax, and celebrate all they have accomplished this year. They have earned it!
