Dear Palmer River Families,

As the weather continues to cool, we want to remind families to send students to school with warm clothing and layerseach day. We make every effort to go outside for recess whenever possible, so please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the changing temperatures.

If your child borrows clothing from our nurse’s loaner collection, please be sure to wash and return those items promptly (underwear excluded!). This important collection is made possible through donations, and returning borrowed items helps ensure we can continue to support all students who may need a change of clothes during the day.

We are also accepting donations of new or gently used items to replenish our supply. Please see the list below for needed items. Your generosity helps keep this helpful resource available for everyone—thank you for your continued support!

Looking ahead, we have another short week next week:

  • Monday – Our annual Veterans Day Tribute will take place in the afternoon.

  • Tuesday – No school in observance of Veterans Day.

And don’t forget—Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for November 20 and 21. Please be sure to sign up for a conference time if you haven’t already. Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kristine Kefor, Principal & Mrs. Cassey Monte, Assistant Principal

Feinstein Foundation Winner! Feinstein Foundation Winner!

This week, Palmer River student Caylena was selected as a Golden Ticket winner from the Feinstein Foundation! This exciting recognition means that our school will receive a $2,000 grant, and Caylena will also have the opportunity to choose a nonprofit organization to receive a $500 grant in her honor. Congratulations, Caylena, on this wonderful opportunity!

The holidays are just around the corner, and the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District is once again partnering with the Greater Attleboro Council for Children through the Christmas Is for Kids program to bring joy and comfort to local families in need. Superintendent Runey emailed all district families earlier today with details about the program and how to apply.

Families who have previously participated must apply by Friday, November 8, and new families have until Friday, November 22. Applications are available at each school, the Superintendent’s Office, or online. Donations are also welcome—your generosity helps make DReams come true for even more children this season!

For more information or to apply, visit www.councilforchildren.org or contact bruney@drregional.org. Together, we are DR! 💚💛

❤️‍🩹Health Screenings

We are pleased to inform you that health screenings for our students have been successfully completed. If a student failed the initial screening, they were retested. Letters have been sent home to the parents of students who need a follow-up with a doctor. If you did not receive a letter, it means your child passed the health screening.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter, and as always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

🩺Medical Requirements for 3rd and 4th Grade Students

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Palmer River Elementary School District mandate that each student have a current physical examination on file with the school nurse before entering 4th grade.

  • For third-grade students, physicals submitted during this school year will meet the requirements.

  • For fourth-grade students, please submit them as soon as possible.

Documents can be faxed to (508) 252-5110, emailed to me at eferreira@drregional.org, or enclosed in a sealed envelope and sent in with your child, as per your preference.

👕Spare clothing

Accidents happen! All children are recommended to keep a spare set of clothes at school. This includes a shirt, pants, underpants, and socks. Spare clothing will be stored in a safe location in the classroom and returned at the end of the year. I can also store them in the nurse's office if needed.

🧦Donations

The health office is in need of packaged, unused underwear and socks in all sizes for girls and boys. We also need boys and girls leggings, sweatpants, and long-sleeve tops. If you have any extra boys or girl's clothing at home feel free to donate them to the health office.

Thank you

Nurse Elizabeth
