Monthly Bond Construction Update
June 11, 2026
THANK YOU
As always, we want to thank our voters for approving the $49 million construction bond to provide improvements to Banks School District facilities. With the Oregon School Capital Improvement Matching (OSCIM) grant, we have more than $55 million to complete the following projects:
Banks High School Addition
Campus-wide traffic flow improvements
Locker room modernization
Auxiliary gym addition
Safety and security
Elementary HVAC and roof repair
We’re working with partners Cornerstone Management Group, BRIC Architecture, and P&C Construction to steward these funds well and complete projects on time.
THE LATEST
Student Documentary
Part of our bond construction process has involved taking down old structures, including the old building. We have taken great care to preserve our school, community, and building history by working with the State Historic Preservation Office, salvaging items and materials, and showcasing items of historical significance via digital formats. A huge thank you to Banks High School students for producing this documentary film about the old Banks Union High School. We hope you enjoy it!
Narrator: Banks SD Board Member Leslee Sipp
Director: Banks HS Sophomore Scott Andre

Construction Projects
Construction is on schedule at the Banks High School campus. Right now, crews are on site working to remove an old underground oil storage tank. They continue to prepare the foundation and install key utilities to support the new facility. Additionally, the full locker room remodel is well underway, and the new spaces are on track to be open in mid-August. We are excited for this project that will provide modern, equitable spaces for our student athletes. The aux gym project continues as well with concrete slabs being poured for the new restrooms and new maintenance area.
At Banks Elementary School, boiler replacement work is in progress including removal of the old boilers. Crews will start shingle roof replacement work and the replacement of two rooftop air handling units as soon as school lets out.
With extensive work planned for the summer, we are collaborating with our partners to coordinate construction as seamlessly as possible.

The new aux gym – with a full-sized basketball court, two side courts, new restrooms, additional storage, new bleachers, a scoreboard, maintenance facility, and team rooms with storage – is expected to be ready by winter 2026!
HVAC improvements as well as roof replacement and repairs at the elementary school will begin this summer as soon as school lets out.

BOND OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE
The Bond Oversight Committee meets quarterly to monitor bond-funded construction projects and help citizens stay informed about new construction and renovation projects in the district. The committee met in May when they toured the construction sites, and a report went to the board at the June meeting.
