Principal's Message
Dear Greeley Families,
We are off to a joyful and engaging week at Greeley, filled with meaningful learning experiences and special moments that have brought our school community together as we head into Spring Break.
One of the highlights was this morning’s all-school assembly, led by our fourth grade students in honor of Women’s History Month, our March observance. Be sure to check out the news below for more details from the assembly, a peek into our KW program, and an update from the nurse’s office.
As we move into our final week before Spring Break, we look forward to continued learning, connection, and a strong finish to this stretch of the school year.
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead and a restful, rejuvenating spring break.
Warmly,
Principal Kopinski

New Information
Lighthouse Moment from the Classroom
Today, our fourth grade students had a wonderful opportunity to showcase their research, writing, collaboration, and acting skills during our monthly all-school assembly. In honor of Women’s History Month, students worked closely with Mrs. Wilkinson to create and perform original skits highlighting the achievements of influential women throughout history. A huge thank you to our fourth graders and to Mrs. Wilkinson for the time, creativity, and effort that went into making this fully student-created assembly such a success!
Be sure to ask your student which invention or achievement stood out to them. We hope they’re excited to share their learning with you!
Updates from the Health Office
We wanted to take a moment to share a gentle reminder as several illnesses are currently circulating in our school community, including Influenza B.
To help keep all students and staff healthy, we kindly ask that you please be mindful about keeping your child home if they are showing signs of illness, such as fever, vomiting, persistent cough, or other symptoms that may be contagious. Allowing children time to rest and recover at home not only supports their well-being, but also helps prevent the spread of illness to others. We truly appreciate your partnership and understanding as we work together to maintain a healthy and safe learning environment for everyone. If you have any questions or are unsure whether your child is well enough to attend school, please review the district health guidelines or don’t hesitate to reach out.
Related Arts Spotlight
Progressive education has been alive in KW over the past couple of weeks! We are excited to share a look at what our students have been up to:
Healthy Habits: Students explored the basics of nutrition, learning about the different food groups.
Going for Gold: Classes practiced teamwork and gross motor skills by trying out Winter Olympics-inspired events including speed skating, mogul skiing, and curling!
Community Building: We transformed the gymnasium into a bustling, miniature version of Winnetka! Students worked in small groups to complete fitness activities by driving their scooter "cars" around town. They even got a fun introduction to traffic laws.
Cooperative Play: Classic parachute games brought out big smiles and highlighted the importance of working together.
Repeated Information
Illinois Assessment of Readiness Assessments
Students in Grades 3 and 4 will soon participate in the annual Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). Testing at Greeley is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 7 and conclude on Thursday, April 9, with make-up sessions continuing through Friday, April 17.
Students generally tend to perform best when they are able to take these assessments in their familiar classroom environment alongside their peers during the regularly scheduled testing times. Being in a comfortable, familiar setting helps students feel at ease and do their best. We encourage minimizing absences during April 7–9 unless your child is sick so they can test with their class.
As we prepare for IAR, families play an important role in helping students feel confident and ready. Ensuring your child gets a good night’s sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, and arrives at school on time each day can make a big difference. You can also support your child by encouraging a positive mindset and reminding them that this is an opportunity to show what they know and how much they’ve grown.
Keeping routines consistent at home and minimizing stress during testing days can help students stay focused and calm. Most importantly, reassure your child that effort matters most. We are proud of their hard work each and every day!

MTSS: Tiered support for all learners (Stephanie Larenas, MTSS Coordinator)- (Virtual Zoom Event)
April 8, 2026
9:30 A.M.
Join MTSS Coordinator, Stephanie Larenas, for an informational session in how we support all of our students. Our MTSS practices serve as the foundation of understanding across the district as we provide continued support for students. This three-tiered model ensures consistent teaching and learning for all students, support for students who already understand, and supports for those students who may need additional review. Come learn more about how we gauge student learning and progress, how we respond to student understanding, how we differentiate the need for in-class instruction and intervention support, and how we determine what student progress looks like.
