MIDDLE SCHOOL MATTERS

MIDDLE SCHOOLMATTERSOctober 16, 2026

Principal's Note Principal's Note

There is so much that is going to happen in the upcoming weeks that is critical to the momentum of the remainder of the school year. The end of the marking period is two weeks away. Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for November 4th and 5th. All of you will be having different conversations with your student(s) based on their performance, but EVERY conversation is important. Celebrate with your student(s) if they worked hard and exceeded expectations! Challenge them if they are underperforming! Enact appropriate consequences at home that require them to show more responsibility if things are well below the standard. Just so you know, we are working hard to meet with students and have the necessary conversations at school that lead to the formation of good educational habits. We will support your home conversations EVERY step of the way!

As we move closer to the holidays, there are many family events that may come into your schedules. Please plan around school as much as possible. Enjoy those family experiences, be safe in your travels, and please keep the school and teachers informed ahead of time. Thank you for your consideration when it comes to your personal planning as it relates to school.

Hungry for Culvers? Looking for an opportunity to not cook on a Wednesday night? If either of those answers are yes, plan for a Culver's dinner in Granger (next to Walgreens) on Wednesday, October 21st! This will directly provide funds to Edwardsburg Middle School, that 100% will go to our students in some way. Edwardsburg Middle School staff volunteers will be there from 5:00 - 8:00 pm to help and are hoping to see many of our students and families! Thank you so much for your continued support of our Middle School and we look forward to providing for our students even more with this fundraiser!

8th Grade MiCareerQuest Field Trip 8th Grade MiCareerQuest Field Trip

Our 8th grade students have the opportunity to participate in the MiCareerQuest with a field trip to Kalamazoo on Thursday, October 22nd. Students will be able to interact with different career pathways and ask questions to gain more insight of what their future career may look like. We will also tie this into our career planning program, Xello. This is the fourth year that Edwardsburg students have the opportunity to attend this career quest field trip! Click here to visit their website for more information.

Our Fine Arts programs are second to none at Edwardsburg. We look forward every year to the performances of our band and choir. Our hallways are constantly decorated with outstanding artwork from our various art classes.

Self-Expression Art

Our 7th-grade artists have been tackling identity and self-expression in a fun, creative way—by reimagining themselves as custom LEGO minifigures!

Food Service

Breakfast and lunch are available FREE this school year, however, the Household Survey Education Benefits form still needs to be filled out per the Michigan Department of Education to allocate funding correctly. Health Office

Attention parents of all 7th graders and new students! Edwardsburg Public Schools is required to submit, to the Michigan Department of Community Health, proof that ALL 7th graders have been immunized against particular diseases for the 2026 - 2027 school year. Students need some vaccinations after they turn 11 years of age to meet the current standards. You must submit completed immunizations or waiver to msettle@goeddies.com or fax them to (269) 663-1016 as soon as possible. Your child is also welcome to drop completed immunizations off in our health office. Thank you for your help in this effort.

OK2SAY

In the event that you or your student(s) come across sensitive information that needs to be reported please utilize the OK2SAY program, contact building administration, or contact the local police department. DO NOT resort to social media as that only serves the purpose of instilling fear and panic.

Student Support Services

Our Student Support Specialist, Miss Kayla, assists students and families in addressing barriers to school success. Some of barriers may include excessive absences, atypical behavior, poor peer relations, and concerns related to academic achievement. Services include individual support, interpersonal skills, instruction in small group and classroom settings, crisis intervention, family consultation, transition support, and linking students and families with community resources. If you would like your student to utilize this service please have them get a consent form from the Guidance Office to take home and sign.

Transportation

The EPS Transportation department has a great responsibility for ensuring the safety of children. Any change to a child’s normal dismissal routine adds a great deal of responsibility to the office staff, teachers, and drivers and results in unnecessary interruptions to classroom instruction. Please send a note or call the school office before 1:00 pm when a change is necessary. Thank you for understanding and your cooperation.

It is important to sign up for “HERE COMES THE BUS” here. Any changes to bus numbers, route changes, and drop-off times will be communicated through “Here Comes the Bus”.

Visitors

Edwardsburg Public Schools takes the health and safety of our staff and students very seriously. With our comprehensive plan to build and foster a safe and secure school community, we ask that any visitor please ring the bell on the wall and wait patiently for someone to assist you.

If you would like to volunteer at the Middle School, a Volunteer Background Form/Check will need to be completed ahead of time. Please click here to download, print, and return the form to the office with a copy of your driver's license. This must be done each school year.
