Innovation Pathways: September 2024

Innovation Pathways: September 2024
Welcome!
Welcome to the first of our monthly newsletter series! To keep our students and families informed, we’ll be sharing updates and important information on the final Monday of each month. This will include upcoming fields trips, guest speakers, internship opportunities, additional partners, and all other things Pathways!
Thank you to everyone who attended the August Welcome Reception—your energy made for an incredible kickoff! Since then, students have jumped into their Innovation Pathways coursework, with schedules tailored to their chosen pathways. Teachers are already sharing exciting updates: Advanced Engineering and Manufacturing students are working on projects like building trebuchets, phone holders, wooden American flags, and Lego blocks. Business and Finance students have been engaged in exciting lessons that have allowed them to build their own resume and cover letter writing, discuss opportunity cost and Production Possibility Curves, present in the "Fake It Til You Make It" and more!
October Field Trips
We have some exciting opportunities lined up for our students to see their pathways come to life beyond the classroom. For all field trips students will receive permission slips in their relevant classes, which must be signed and returned to participate. We've got all upcoming field trips and required documents linked below for you convenience.
Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing Field Trip
We'll be visiting the Youth Remodeling Career Day hosted by the Professional Remodeling Organization, Inc. (PRO New England)! This field trip will take place at the Bolton Fairgrounds on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM.
Students will explore hands-on activities in construction processes, including the use of tools and equipment, all while learning about career opportunities in the remodeling industry. Please note, students may be featured in photos or videos, used for publicity purposes by PRO New England.
This is an incredible opportunity for students interested in the construction field to get real-world exposure, gain hands-on experience, and meet industry professionals! Please make sure that both forms are filled out and returned to Mr. LeBlanc no later than Friday, October 11th, 2024.
Business & Finance Field Trip
We are excited to invite our Business & Finance students to Bentley University on Tuesday, October 22nd, for an engaging campus tour and lunch with Nashoba alumni currently attending the university. This trip offers a unique opportunity for students to connect with past NRHS graduates who are pursuing business and finance degrees at a well known school. Students will gain valuable insights into college life, career paths in business, and what it takes to succeed in a competitive academic environment. Please make sure that your field trip form is signed and returned to Mr. A or Ms. Norton no later than Friday, October 11th, 2024.
There will be a small fee associated with this field trip. We will reach out following the October 11th, 2024 deadline with the exact amount. Students can expect it to be no more than $25.00. Payments can be made by cash or check (payable to Nashoba Regional School District) and submitted to either Mr. A or Ms. Norton.
Upcoming Guest Speakers
Earlier this month we put out an Innovation Pathways Guest Speaker interest form, and so far we've had a tremendous amount of interest! We're now in the process of scheduling dates for our speakers, but we'd love your input on the industry sectors you're most interested in hearing from first. Please feel free to share our Innovation Pathways Guest Speaker Form with anyone you think could make a great guest speaker!
