Warhawk Culture - Systems
At Westerville Central, we are intentional about maintaining and elevating the positive culture we’ve built together. Our Warhawk Blueprint and Playbook define the standards, beliefs, and behaviors we commit to living out each day.
This year, we are focused on empowering our students to strengthen and protect our culture by developing their leadership skills to lead in all spaces of WCHS. We want every Warhawk to take pride in all they do and to strengthen our Wings UP mentality by living out our beliefs through their actions, attitudes, and words—using the systems we have in place: E+R=O, the R Factor disciplines, and 20 Square Feet.
To support this, we use common systems and language:
-
E+R=O Formula: We can’t control the Events (E) in life, but we always control our Response (R), which directly impacts the Outcome (O). Press pause, respond “above the line,” and get a better outcome.
-
R Factor System: Six disciplines that teach us how to manage our responses and build better behavior skills.
-
20 Square Feet: Each of us owns our space. How we respond within our 20 sq. ft. shapes not only our own success but also the culture of our school.
These systems, created by Focus 3 and the late Tim Kight—a dear friend and mentor—have guided our work for many years. If you’d like to learn more, I encourage you to listen to a podcast from Tim Kight linked [HERE].
You’ll also see posters throughout classrooms and common spaces to reinforce these shared commitments.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us build and live out the Warhawk Culture each day.
Wings Up ,
Mrs. Sayre
Principal
Westerville Central High School
Our Warhawk Blueprint outlines what we believe, how we behave and outcomes we hope to achieve together at WCHS. These beliefs are our guidepost that provide alignment in all we do.

Congrats Coach Kiefer
Congratulations, Coach Keifer!
We are proud to share that Coach Jeff Keifer has been selected to be inducted into the Central District Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame this coming November.
Coach Keifer has been leading Warhawk Baseball since 2008, after beginning his coaching career in 2003 at Westerville North—the same school where he once played as a student-athlete. In addition to his leadership on the field, he has been a dedicated History teacher at Central, teaching Sociology and Government.
His career speaks for itself:
-
347 Career Wins
-
“Ruled the Ville” 12 times
-
3 OCC League Championships
-
2 District Titles & 4 District Runner-Up Titles
-
1 Regional Title
-
1 State Runner-Up Title
Beyond the numbers, his impact on the program and facilities is undeniable. Under his leadership, Warhawk Park has become one of the premier baseball facilities in Central Ohio, earning Marco Field of the Year honors from the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association in 2021.
Please join us in congratulating Coach Jeff Keifer on this well-deserved honor. We are fortunate to have his leadership, dedication, and passion shaping the experiences of our students and athletes.

College Application Process
Senior Families
College Applications:
Applying for college is underway! Wednesday, during Fly Time, your students will receive information on how to use SchooLinks during the college application process in a Google Meet. They will receive a folder that includes a transcript, senior timeline, and a few other documents. We will share all the information with families in the next family update.
24-25 Yearbook Pick Up Information
The Central Talon has arrived! If your student ordered a 2025 yearbook last school year, they will be available for pick up during the lunch periods on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday (9/3-9/5) at the concession stand. Your student will be asked to show their school ID. No yearbooks will be handed out without an ID. Questions? See Ms. Deborah Jones in room 2203 or email.
Student Drivers & Bike Riders
A reminder that all students who drive to school must have a valid parking pass and follow all school rules. Any student found driving recklessly may face school discipline, including the loss of driving and parking privileges on school property.
We ask that you please have a conversation with your Warhawk student about these expectations. In addition, remind them to follow all traffic laws when leaving campus—this includes stopping at stop signs, yielding appropriately, and observing school zone speed limits.
For students who ride bikes, e-bikes or scooters, please encourage safe riding practices such as wearing helmets, being alert to traffic, and following the same road rules as vehicles.
Thank you for helping us keep our Warhawk community safe!
School Counseling Needs Assessment
Warhawk Families, Westerville Secondary Schools will be conducting a School Counseling Needs Assessment for all students in grades 6-12 this year to identify needs, areas for program improvement, topics for small groups, barriers to student success, as well as strengths and gaps in existing services. The school counseling team worked together to develop the set questions in 4 areas: Academic, Social-Emotional, Career and College, and general needs. Students will take the anonymous needs assessment during Advisory/Flytime on September 17, 2025.
Please see the information flyer, the list of survey questions, and the letter and opt-out form linked below for more details. Our team will review results to ensure the school counseling program is responsive and aligned with the school's evolving needs.
Columbus College Suburban Fair
The Columbus Suburban College Fair will be held at Capital University on September 21st from 1:00-3:30pm. This is a great opportunity to speak with different college representatives throughout the country. For more information in regard to the Columbus Suburban College, a flyer can be found here.

Reminder - Student Supervision After School Activities
To ensure the safety of all students, we ask that families please make arrangements so students are not left unsupervised after school, practices, rehearsals, games, or events. Students may not remain unattended in the Commons before a practice or rehearsal begins, and they must be picked up promptly once activities conclude.
Each coach, advisor, and director will share specific supervision plans (including location and contact information) with their students and families. Please review these plans and help us by ensuring your student has timely transportation and clear expectations.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep all Warhawks safe and supported!
