Lion List
September 4, 2026
September is off to an AMAZING start, Lions!
This week, we’re celebrating Lion Pride, getting hyped for Homecoming, and staying LOCKED IN for all the excitement happening across Lockhart ISD. From an exhilarating win on home turf and the energy of Lady Lions Volleyball in the Den to the solemn remembrance of September 11 and a celebration of our shared values through the Spirit of 1.5, this week has been filled with moments that showcase the heart of our Lion community. 🦁❤️
Have a wonderful weekend, Lions! We’ll see you TONIGHT at Lions Stadium for the Homecoming game! Bring you Lion Pride and get ready to ROAR! #LockedInForLockhart
1. Honoring those Lost on September 11, 2001
Today, our Lockhart High School AFJROTC honored the lives forever changed by the events of September 11, 2001, with a solemn ceremony of remembrance.
The ceremony began with the presentation and raising of the American and Texas flags, followed by a moving performance of the National Anthem by our LHS Choir. The ceremony concluded with the beautiful notes of a bugle, offering a moment of quiet reflection and remembrance.
Twenty-five years later, we still remember September 11th, honor those who lost their lives, and recognize the courage and service of first responders and everyday heroes who stepped forward to help others.
We are grateful to our AFJROTC cadets and LHS Choir students for helping our school community come together to remember this important day.
2. Lockhart Lions are LOCKED IN and Dominate Leander Lions
There can only be one king and last Friday night, our Lockhart Lions showed just who the king of the field really is.
Our Lions were locked in, fired up, and ended the first home game with a dub. Our student-athletes defended home turf against the Leander Lions, a 6A opponent, and showed which Lions can roar the loudest!
And it wasn’t just a win for Lions Football – it was a WIN for the whole Lion Pride! Our Roaring Lion Band and Color Guard, Lionettes, and Cheer brought the energy, spirit, and passion all night long! We are so incredibly proud of our Lions on the field, in the stands, and everywhere in between.
THANK YOU to our coaches, staff, families, and fans who showed up, got LOUD, and brought the Lion Pride!
Tonight, our Lions take on the Lehman Lobos for Homecoming. So, let’s pack the stands, bring the energy, and show the Lobos exactly what it means to be #LockedInForLockhart!
3. Lady Lions Volleyball Take on Bastrop Bears
There’s nothing like Lady Lion Volleyball in the Den!
Our Freshman, JV, and Varsity teams brought the energy last Friday night against the Bastrop Bears! Our student-athletes displayed incredible drive, skill, and teamwork on their home court, and we couldn’t be prouder of the way they represent Lockhart!
Thank you to everyone who showed up to fill the Den and support our athletes, and to our coaches and families for the time, encouragement, and dedication they pour into these Lady Lions every day.
Keep serving up that Lion Pride, Lady Lions!
4. Spirit of 1.5
The Spirit of 1.5 is about living and celebrating exceeding expectations and fostering a deeply caring environment that grows everyone within Lockhart ISD. This spirit encompasses a heartfelt devotion to people, coupled with a relentless pursuit of excellence that consistently delivers impactful outcomes.
This week, we are excited to celebrate Kinsley Schupp from LHS, Jeremiah Chapman from MLC, and Lisa Borja from PCE.

5. #LockedInForLockhart Across the District
This week, Lion Pride was in the air and all over the Square!
All week long, our Lions have been showing off their Homecoming spirit and repping LISD! We’ve loved seeing that Lion Pride fill our halls, our schools, and our community.
The excitement seemed to culminate on Wednesday night as our community came together on the Square for our Annual Homecoming Pep Rally. The energy and atmosphere were incredible! Our community showed up and showed out, cheering on our Lions and celebrating the spirit that brings us all together!
We’re so proud to be Lions and can’t wait to pack the stands this Friday night for Homecoming! Let’s make it a night to remember! #LockedInForLockhart
6. Strong Start = Big Difference
Let’s start STRONG, Lions!
To celebrate Attendance Awareness Month, we’re sharing the facts about why attendance matters, along with quick tips and tricks to help our families build strong attendance habits!
Did you know? Starting the school year strong can make a BIG difference! Students who missed fewer than 2 days in September continued to average fewer than 2 days absent each month throughout the school year.
There are 20 days of school in September. Can our Lions make it to all 20?
One way to motivate kids to get to school every day and build strong attendance habits is to set goals and track progress! Scan the QR code in the graphic or click the link below for our free printable September Attendance Tracker to set an attendance goal and keep track of your progress throughout the month.

9. One Thing that Made Us Smile this Week:
Our athletes being leaders in the game and in our community! This week, our football and basketball teams showed a #LockHEARTForPeople by spending time with some of our littlest Lions. Our football players visited Cub House for Superhero Day, while our basketball team helped welcome students at Navarro Elementary during morning drop-off.
There were plenty of fist bumps, high fives and bright smiles all around! We’re so proud of our student-athletes for giving back, spreading Lion Pride and being great role models for our younger Lions! 🦁🔒❤️ #LockedInForLockhart
We're always looking for great stories to tell that highlight our #LockhartLeading community. If you have feedback or want to share a good news story, email Communications Specialist, Dechanel Santos at dechanel.santos@lockhart.txed.net.
