Hello CELC & MVLA Families,

This weekend was filled with family and volleyball. We are super excited to have my brother-in-law in town from Michigan. He is here to enjoy the San Diego sun for his spring break. He is a principal :). I don't think I will be able to convince him to come visit the campus, but it doesn't mean that I wont try! My daughter's team had a tournament in Irvine this weekend and we will be traveling back to Las Vegas next weekend.

CELC is looking forward to our upcoming Book Fair and Open House. The Book Fair will be open this week before and after school. Please stop by and shop for books and other fun items. Open House is this Thursday at 6:00 pm. Come by and tour the classroom(s) and see what your child has been up to. We can't wait to show off what our Cubs have been learning. You can also visit the Book Fair!

Information and order forms for Square 1 Art went home last week. Place your orders by April 1st. These custom art pieces make great Mother's Day gifts! I still have a trivet in my kitchen that my daughter made when she was five :). Creekside PTA will get a percentage of sales to apply to programs and supplies for our students.

We are gearing up for our annual Spring Fling and Spring Bonnet Parade. Please let us know if you are willing to help out with Spring Fling. Contact Stephanie Green if you can help us out at 619-659-8250.

Important Updates and Information:

Please take a few minutes to fill out the LCAP Survey.
OPEN HOUSE is this Thursday, March 31st at 6:00 pm.
Does your student eat breakfast at school? If so, please make sure that they get to school at 8:45 am to have enough time to finish eating. Students need to be in class ready to learn by 9:05 am.
Morning gates open at 8:45 am daily for CELC students. Our fee-based preschool and ESS families have different schedules and are buzzed in prior to the 8:45 am time.
Afternoon gates open at 2:40 pm (M/T/TH/F) and 1:30 pm (W) The official release time is 2:50 pm (M/T/TH/F) and 1:35 pm (W).
Call Mary Barkley, our Office Clerk, if you have any questions about contract work. Completing work clears your child's attendance and keeps them caught up.
Part 1 of Kindergarten registration for the 2022-23 school year is open. Please contact the office for information. Dual language spaces are limited. Please let friends and family know to register ASAP to ensure a spot.
Please make sure that you send your student to school with a Chromebook (fully charged) and a water bottle daily.
As a reminder, CELC official start time is 9:05 am. Students are not considered late until 9:06 am. Please check into the office for a late slip to ensure that your child is not marked absent.
The sliding gate closes on or before 9:05 am. All late arrivals must go through the front gate and sign in at the office.
Our next district-wide kindness dress up day is April 20th. "Kindness Rocks"- dress like a rock star of wear your favorite band shirt.

Attention MVLA Parents

The teachers are planning Celebration of Success Ceremonies for kindergarten, fifth, and eighth grade. Ceremonies will be held on June 3rd in the shaded front lawn of Shadow Hills School. Mark your calendars: Kindergarten is at 9:30 am and fifth and eighth grade is at 10:30 am.

CUBS IN THE COMMUNITY

The Cubs in the Community tradition continues this school year. Mrs. RIpke's goal is to connect with 100 Cubs (Future, Former, or Current) by the 100th day of school. Building relationships with our students is important to us! If you see Mrs. Ripke out in the community, encourage your student to say hi. Not only does it create an opportunity to connect, it also supports students' language and communication skills. Follow the sightings on our FB page. Feel free to share our postings to spread the word. Mrs. Ripke looks out for future, current, and former Cubs. Check out one of the latest Cub sightings below. It was super cool to run into a former Cub (now MVLA student) at GHHS Freshman Programing Night.

Volunteers Wanted

Please contact Stephanie Green in the office if you have any questions about PTA and any other volunteer opportunities.If you haven't already, please make sure all paperwork is completed and turned in. This includes an up-to-date TB test, the volunteer form, and proof of the COVID-19 vaccination. Persons not vaccinated are required to show a negative PCR COVID-19 test within the previous 7 days of your volunteer day. Please check with your child's teacher for any opportunities coming up. The office could utilize volunteers as well. Let us know if you like to organize!

We have a need for adult volunteers to help clean out some spaces on campus. If anyone is willing to volunteer after school or on the weekend, please let us know.

AUSD is Hiring
