R.C. Edwards November Update

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween and a great long weekend!

Our students had an outstanding first quarter, recording the lowest number of missing assignments in recent memory. Building grit and stamina is important as we work to improve SCReady scores for the 5th year in a row!

Our school is focused on one goal... growing our students from year to year! One tool we're beginning to utilize this year is iReady Pathways. Our students are competing in a fantasy football style competition, pitting ELA and Math classes against each other for prizes! Please encourage your student to participate for their team!

As we enter the holiday season, it's important for our students to realize that we're a small part of three amazing communities. This week, we'll be collecting food items for our neighbors in need. We know these are tough times for many families.

8th Grade football players and cheerleaders will be recognized pre-game on Thursday, November 6th.

We are thankful for all those who have served our country. On Tuesday, November 11th we will hold our annual Veteran's Day Assembly. Feel free to invite family and friends who have served and to enjoy refreshments in the media center at 2:00 PM before the assembly begins at 2:30 PM.

Winter i-Ready testing will take place this month. Math i-Ready tests will be administered on November 18th. Reading i-Read tests will be administered on November 19th. Any students who miss one of these sessions will complete make-up testing on November 20th and 21st.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to R.C.E.! Mark your calendars and save your money for December 15th-December 18th. Parents, if you are interested in volunteering for the Book Fair, please email Mrs. Allen at ErinAllen@pickens.k12.sc.us.

The School District of Pickens County is now offering virtual volunteer training for those interested in volunteering in Pickens County schools. All volunteers must complete volunteer training every school year. To complete the training process, go to the website linked here and scroll to the bottom of the page and complete the six steps. After completion, you will receive an email confirmation. If you have any questions, please email ErinAllen@pickens.k12.sc.us.

To tryout, all athletes must have an updated physical uploaded into Big Teams by the start of tryouts.

Our amazing PTSO has been hard at work making this school year extra special! So far, they’ve provided a snack cart and breakfast to show appreciation for our teachers, organized and maintained the Panther Closet for students in need, restocked the always-popular teacher coffee bar, and even hosted a fun-filled Halloween party at lunch complete with a DJ and photo booth!
