Beginning of the Year Information
Wilson Creek Website:
Visit our website at Wilson Creek Elementary - Homepage for on-going announcements of upcoming school year events and information.
Morning Arrival/Dismissal:
August 3rd - On the first day of school, parents may accompany their child to their homeroom teacher's classroom.
Carpool:
- The doors will open daily at 7:10 am. The expected arrival time for students is between 7:10 am and 7:40 am. Students, except for bus riders, are considered tardy after the 7:40 bell rings. Parent(s) will need to park in a parking spot and walk their student in the building after 7:40. The carpool line is lighter between 7:10 and 7:25. The line gets long after 7:25, so please plan accordingly.
- Dismissal begins at 2:20 pm. ** Students will not be checked out after 1:45 PM as we prepare for our dismissal procedures.
- Carpool tags must be displayed during afternoon pick you to help us move the line quickly. If you have siblings at school, each child's carpool tag must be displayed.
Bus riders:
Students can ride the bus home on the 1st day of school. For more information about buses, please visit the following websites.
- FCS Transportation Website: Transportation / Department Overview
- To find your child's bus stop, use the link: Bus Stop Location.
- Here are instructions to download the "Here Comes the Bus" App: Transportation / "Here Comes the Bus"
- All students in Kindergarten and 1st grade must be received by a parent or guardian at the bus stop. Students will be driven back to school if the driver does not see the parent/guardian at the stop.
Infinite Campus Parent Portal:
The Campus Parent Portal allows parents to view attendance, grades, update information, communication with teachers and more. Assessments
iReady Diagnostics
All students in grades K-5 will take the beginning of the year iReady diagnostics in reading and math on August 10th (Reading) and August 12th (Math). This diagnostic takes about 45-60 minutes to complete. Please talk to your child about trying their best on this diagnostic as these results are used to identify academic strengths and areas of growth for each child. Please review the family letter for more information on the diagnostic. iReady Family Guide
If you have questions about the diagnostic, please reach out to your child’s teacher or Ms. Radhika Godbole at godboler@fultonschools.org.
Dyslexia and Reading Risk Diagnostic
All students in grades K-3 will take the dyslexia and reading risk screener on Tuesday, August 18th or Wednesday, August 19th. The test called Amira ISP, is a computer adaptive test that measures students's foundational reading skills and tracks their progress. It gives teachers real-time data to identify strengths, target areas for growth, and support personalized reading instruction. Every family received information about the screener in their Sneak Preview packet. Results of the diagnostic will be shared with families in September. Please reach out to your child's teacher or Radhika Godbole at godboler@fultonschools.org if you have questions about the diagnostic.
