7th & 8th Grade Dance Tonight

BWMS Families,

The 1st School Dance for 7th and 8th Graders at BWMS is Tonight Friday 9/5/25 from 6:30 - 8:00 PM in the cafeteria. We will have a DJ Matt Ryan play some good tunes and the kids will have a great time eating snacks from the concession stand. School Dances at BWMS are limited to our students and chaperoned by school staff. The cost is $5.00 at the door. Entrance will occur from the Athletic Entrance at the side of the building and student pick up will be according to the designated grade-level parking lot (please see below). We will encourage student pick up to enter from S Old 3C and exit on Letts Ave and for parents to park in the grade assigned parking lot. Please note that this event is for BWMS Students Only and casual dress is encouraged. In addition, all school rules continue to apply at the dance. We look forward to our students enjoying this event.

Special note to 6th grade families - the 6th grade dance will take place next Friday 9/12/25 from 6:30-8:00 PM in the cafeteria with the same format.

Have a great day and Go Eagles!

Sincerely,

Mr. Josh Frame

Carline Traffic Signage Adjustment

Attention Parents,

BWMS has worked with the City of Sunbury to have the Stop Sign below removed at 3PM on Friday 9/5/25 to assist with our parent drop off and pick up lines beginning next week. As you enter the school from Letts Ave, the stop sign at the end of Hill St will be removed to allow cars to travel straight into the school campus. We are thankful for our parent recommendations and Officer Whiteside for assisting with this change. Please continue to be patient and understanding with others as we adopt this adjustment beginning next week.

MS Grades and Conference Nights

Students are now getting into the time when summative assessments and monitoring of progress occurs. In fact if you can believe it, the mid-point of the 1st quarter is just weeks away. We call these Grade Update Days and we work to have an updated progress in PowerSchool for families to review student work. With conferences just around the corner, this will be a great time for you to check marks and monitor specific goals you may have set with your child before the school year began. As a quick reminder for those new to grades, we have a phrase to help us remember what is our main goal: BWMS cares more about the Learning and less about the Grade. Meaning, students have multiple opportunities for success throughout the quarter to demonstrate what they know and are able to do. Mr. Frame will be hosting a parent information meeting during the first conference night about how to help your student navigate the new world of grades. More details to come.

At BWMS, we will have two nights of conferences in the 1st quarter scheduled for Tuesday 9/23/25 and Thursday 10/2/25. We have designated 3:00PM-5:00PM conferences to be in person and 5:30PM-7:00PM conferences to be virtual on 9/23/25. For your convenience, we will flip this rotation for our next conference night on 10/2/25. We will be sharing the online sign up next week which will account for parent conferences with the full team and selected related arts staff. Overall, we look forward to partnering with you to support your student's growth in 2025!

Important Updates

  • Staff members reviewed STAR assessment results in our Data Teams and have emailed home the results to families. As a reminder, BWLSD uses the STAR Assessment as the Benchmark Assessment. Our teachers review this information to provide targeted instruction and supports at BWMS. We offer Tier 2 instruction twice per week with computer-adapted programs (Reading and Math-iXL) during Advisory. In addition, BWMS offers Tier 3 supports daily for students in Reading and Math Lab courses. Please contact our student's school counselors or your content-area teacher if you have any questions.
  • The 1st School Dance for 7th and 8th graders is Friday 9/5/25 and for 6th graders is Friday 9/12/254 from 6:30 - 8:00 in the commons. We will have a DJ play some good tunes and the kids will have a great time eating snacks from the concession stand. School Dances at BWMS are limited to our students and chaperoned by school staff. They are causal so no need to purchase a new outfit just for this occasion. The cost is $5.00 at the door.
  • The next BWMS PTO Meeting will be on Tuesday 9/9/25 at 7 PM.
  • Art Club will begin after school on Wednesdays on 9/10/25. Please see below for the digital parent permission form below or students can pick up a copy in the office.
  • There is no school for students on Monday 9/15/25 due to a Teacher PD Day.
  • The last day to register for the Big Nut Strut and be guaranteed a T-Shirt is Monday 9/15/25. This is a great community event on Sunday 10/12/25 and a great way to support our BWMS PTO.
  • Mid point of the 1st quarter is Friday 9/19/25. We call these Grade Update Days and we encourage all parents to log into PowerSchool to check the progress of their student's performance. We will share out the link to sign up for the first Parent Teacher Conference Night soon. If your student needs help getting into PowerSchool, please reference this document.
