Green Up Day
Have you ever seen people picking up trash on the side of the road in May?That’s probably because it’s Green Up Day—Vermont’s special day to clean up our communities! On Friday, May 2nd, Mrs. Kay's 4th grade class hosted our morning meeting about this special day.
They showed us how we can help by recycling, using less plastic, and turning off lights when we’re not using them. Recycling is a very important part of how we can work together to take care of our community and the Earth.
What is Happening in P.E.?
This week in PE, we welcomed everyone back from break with an all-time favorite activity... THE PARACHUTE! We had fun with many different activities using just the Parachute or adding in dodgeballs, beach balls or cage balls. Without even knowing it, students were exploring concepts of force and trajectory all while laughter filled the gym from Kindergarten to sixth grade. The biggest giggles came from our primary students after they "hid" from their classroom teachers under the Parachute tent.
Important Information
RNESU Art Show
Save the date! On Wednesday May 14th from 6-8 PM there will be a BIG Art Show at Otter Valley Union High School. This Art Show will include work from Neshobe students in grades K-6 as well as students from Lothrop, Barstow, OCA, and Otter Valley. There will be an opportunity for every K-6 Neshobe student to make work for the show. We expect to have the work of more than 700 students' work on display!

Family Trip Request Form
- Your child’s attendance is crucial to their success in school. We understand that not all family experiences can be scheduled during normal school vacations. Given that, please be aware of the attendance procedures listed below when considering scheduling a family vacation outside of the normal school vacation times.
A maximum of ten (10) cumulative lawful absences verified by parental notification may be permitted during a school year. All absences beyond ten (10) cumulative days shall require official documentation.
Should your child accumulate more than 10 lawful absences we will ask for doctor’s documentation, a conversation with the nurse that results in an excused absence or other official documentation as approved by the school for future absences. Absences without medical documentation or approved by the school will be considered unexcused.
Please contact your school principal with any questions or concerns in reference to this matter.
Emails from Lothrop (RNESU)
Please be aware that we have received information that emails sent from Lothrop might go to email spam folders. Please check your spam folder routinely and let us know if you are not receiving regular communication from Lothrop (RNESU). Thank you!
Creating the Mona Lisa
Mr. Duggan's 4th grade reading group just completed the book, The Mona Lisa Vanishes by Nicholas Day. They completed puzzles of the Mona Lisa as a celebration for finishing this wonderful book about a legendary painter, a shocking heist, and the birth of a global celebrity.
Car Pick-up Reminder
Car riders are dismissed to the lower lot on Pleasant Street at 2:35 PM each day. Parents should be waiting in the car pick-up line until they reach the designated pick-up area. If you have students at Lothrop and Otter Valley, please have your children meet and wait together. We ask that you join the end of the car pick-up line to ensure that both of your children are ready to be picked up. If you arrive early, we ask that you pull into the lower lot and park. Please don’t park on Pleasant Street or Cross Street blocking in residents and/or the fire station.
Chaperone Guidelines - Sign-up to Be a Volunteer!
It is the time of year where we begin to think about field trips. If you are planning on chaperoning a field trip or volunteering at Lothrop throughout the year, you are required to complete a background check, fingerprinting, and ID scanning through Raptor, our Supervisory Union security system. Due to the amount of time it takes to complete the full process, we are asking parents/guardians to begin the process now. Appointments for fingerprinting fill up fast and we want to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to attend field trips and take part in volunteering for school events with their students. If you are interested in chaperoning or want to check and see if the background check you completed in the past is still valid, please reach out to Sara Eddy at seddy@rnesu.org or call the office at 802-483-2242.
