Author Visit
Parents wishing to order a signed book may do so by returning this form to school, or ordering online. To order a book return this form to the school, or visit www.authorsnote.com, and search for “A Book, Too, Can Be a Star.” Be sure to mention “DeSales order” in the comments at the time of checkout. Jennifer Adams will also do a reading and signing at Author’s Note, 519 Main Street, Medina, at 7 p.m. that evening (October 6).
DeSales Trunk or Treat
Our DeSales Trunk or Treat Event is scheduled for Friday, October 21st from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This event allows for our students to trick or treat in a safe environment from trunk to trunk in the secured DeSales parking lot. This event is free. We only ask that each family provides one bag of candy per participating child.
We would like to make our 2022 Trunk or Treat event a great success, but that cannot happen without parent and student support. Most importantly, we need a head (trunk) count. Please return the registration form to school as soon as possible. The deadline for trunk registration is Monday, October 17th, 2022.
Seussical, Jr. Auditions
We are pleased to share that this year’s school musical will be Seussical Jr. Auditions will be held in the DeSales Music Room on Wednesday, October 26th during the following time:
Grades 4th-8th: After school from 3-4:30 (4th & 5th grade students will be done at 4, 6th-8th grade students will be done at 4:30)
Boys and Girls Basketball Grades 4-8
Basketball forms will be available soon for those students interested in participating. An attachment will be added to the parent connection taking you to the form and it will be on the DeSales website when ready. In the mean time, we will need volunteer coaches for these teams to take place. Please contact Mrs. Hornquist if you are interested in coaching hornquistc@desalescatholicschool.org. You will need to be Virtus trained and have first aid and CPR certifications.
Janet M. Federspiel Swim Scholarship
Applications for the Janet M. Federspiel Swim Team Scholarship are now available. This $500 tuition scholarship at DeSales was established by the family of Janet M. Federspiel who passed away in July 2021.
Two of Janet’s grandchildren attended DeSales Catholic School. During her grandchildren’s time at DeSales, Janet was a pivotal volunteer for the DeSales Swim Team as a coach, official, assistant coordinator and mentor. Coach Janet was well known by the families and children for her passion and love for the sport of swimming.
It was through a difficult time in Janet’s life that her love for swim was developed and it was her participation in the sport that helped her overcome many physical challenges. Swimming became an essential part of her life and she volunteered for various swim programs teaching hundreds of children in the area how to swim. Janet was a kind and loving woman who was dedicated to giving back to her community in various ways both in and out of the pool.
This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving DeSales Catholic School Swim Team member in December 2022.
If you are a current member of the DeSales Swim Team you are encouraged to apply for this tuition scholarship by completing the form linked below and returning it to Mrs. Knuutila at DeSales Catholic School. A committee comprised of Coach Janet's family will select the scholarship recipient.
Thank you to Janet Federspiel's family for choosing to honor her significant contributions to the DeSales Swim Team! She left a wonderful legacy!
