Hello, September! It is hard to believe that we are already nearing the midpoint of our first nine weeks of the school year. The excitement and energy across our schools are evident, and I am grateful for the dedication of our students, teachers, staff, and families as we continue building a strong start to the 2026–2027 school year.

Tonight, we officially welcome Friday Night Lights! Our football stadiums will come alive with the energy, tradition, and school spirit that make our communities so special. I encourage everyone to come out, support our student-athletes, and proudly represent your school. Whether you are in the stands, on the field, or cheering from home, let’s make this a season filled with school pride, sportsmanship, and community support.

September is also Attendance Awareness Month, and being present matters. Every school day is an opportunity for students to learn, grow, connect with their teachers and classmates, and move closer to their goals. I am excited to continue our Superintendent’s Attendance Challenge, recognizing schools that maintain 95% attendance for all students each month. Thank you to our families and school teams for making attendance a priority. Together, we can help our students understand that every day counts!

September 8 is also Louisiana 988 Day, an important reminder that support is available when someone is experiencing a mental health or emotional crisis. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides free, confidential support by call, text, or chat. Let’s continue creating school communities where students and adults know they are valued, supported, and never alone.

As we move through September, let’s continue to be ALL IN for Acadia—all in for attendance, all in for learning, all in for our students, and all in for one another.
