Construction Update from the Village
The Village of Barrington has advised District 220 and the community that work on Route 14 may now last until the end of October. We greatly appreciate everyone’s patience navigating the morning and afternoon commutes and we will rally to get through this month. You can get updates from the village through their website.
Halloween 2025
Halloween festivities at Roslyn begin on Friday, October 31st at 12:50 PM with a parade around the local neighborhood. (Parents of K-Lab students have a separate document coming soon from Mrs. Riley.) The parade route will be: Roslyn Road to Exmoor Ave., to Merton Ave., concluding at the back blacktop area. We assemble classes outside the school beginning at 12:30 PM. Parents may view the parade from the streets along the parade route. If we have inclement weather, we will parade through the school halls and pass through the gym where there will be spectator seating. Kindergarten students will come to school dressed and visit classrooms during the morning.
Students in 1st – 5th grades will change into costumes after lunch/recess (classroom teachers may modify this time – particularly at the primary level – based on student age and needs.) At 12:30 PM, classes will begin to line up in the front drive of the school. 12:50 PM is the official start of our parade this school year. The parade should end by 1:15 PM and class parties will begin at or around 1:20 PM. Class parties will end at 2:20 PM and dismissal will occur at 2:40 PM.

Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students may attend only with an adult present to supervise them. Parents may coordinate with other parents to supervise their K-2nd grade children. Running will take place primarily on the Roslyn Fitness Path and Roslyn fields. Supervision and activities will be provided by Mr. Nettis, and assisted by Roslyn parent volunteers that are helping to supervise their K-2nd students. Thank you parents for all of your fabulous support in our programs! The purpose of the club is to promote running, fitness, health, active lifestyles, and FUN! Sessions will include a wide variety of runs, running activities, exercises, fitness games, and even some popsicles. Students attending must stay with the Running Club the entire time, and they are expected to participate in all running club activities. They are not allowed to “wander off or just play on the playground” during sessions. All parents are invited to participate as well. It is a great opportunity to get some running, walking, exercise, and fun with your children! Running Club participants should bring appropriate running shoes, water bottles, and appropriate clothing. Students and parents should come to the Roslyn Gym at 2:40. SEPAC Advisory Committee (Special Education Parent Advisory Committee)
SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Committee) is hosting two community engagement sessions for parents and guardians of students receiving special education services in District 220. These sessions will provide a space to share your family's experiences with Inclusion—what’s working well, and where we can grow together. Inclusion promotes equal access to all that a school offers by removing barriers and providing necessary accommodations both in and out of the classroom to support all students. Our goal is to listen and learn from families to better understand how inclusion is currently being experienced and explore ways to continue strengthening inclusive practices across the district.
