Career Week for GIRLs

3 Weeks in June that can change a lifetime!

Over one week, girls – ranging from 13 to 23 years old – make five stops to engage with women, ask questions and tour work sites.

Wondering if this is a good option for your female students?

Here are quotes from Career Week for GIRLs participants:

The way you look doesn’t predict your future - "There’s always someone out there that will say you can’t do that because of the way you look. That’s not true."

The Crazy Power of a Single Wire “I never would have thought that a single wire could determine all the electricity in your household. It’s crazy!”

Drilling holes can be exhausting "What surprised me was how tired you can get just by drilling holes in walls.”

Love a good slump test - “The best part of today was the slump test. We got to get all dirty and everything.”

I can - "I think my favorite part of this whole experience was I kept getting told that I can, You know, I'm a woman, and I'm black and I'm a minority. And so seeing different women from different cultures, different backgrounds, different ethnicities, all being able to do it with such confidence and conviction and strength really encouraged me to do the same."

Five Days Can Change a Life

There are three weeks in June: June 1-5, June 8-12 or June 22-26

There is no cost to those girls that are selected.

The application is open online

SCHOLARSHIPS SCHOLARSHIPS

Rocky Mountain Relocation Council Scholarship Rocky Mountain Relocation Council Scholarship

For Eligible Seniors

Rocky Mountain Relocation Council is a non-profit organization that brings together corporations and relocation service providers in and around Denver for the primary purpose of providing educational information and current industry updates to its members.

RMRC sponsors an annual scholarship program for current high school seniors who have relocated to Colorado during grades 9 through 12. RMRC would like to encourage your eligible students to apply. The one-time award of $1,500 for each scholarship will be presented to two (2) well-deserving seniors. The award will be sent to the college (2-year or 4-year) or university that the scholarship winner will be attending in 2026 to assist with tuition and other applicable expenses.

RMRC will select the scholarship winner based on the strength of the total application package. Each applicant will be evaluated on academic performance, extra-curricular activities, and an original essay that addresses the way he or she handled the challenges associated with relocating to a new area and a new high school.

Eligible Senior Requirements:

1) a. Relocated more than 50 miles and changed schools during grades 9 through 12 due to their family's relocation.

b. A cumulative grade point average minimum of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 (or equivalent achievement on a different scale)

2) Provide an official transcript inclusive of all academic information including grades to accompany the student's application.

The application portal, found HERE, opens March 3, 2026 and will close on March 25, 2026.

The winners will be announced on Wednesday, April 1st. This year, the winners will be invited to join us at our Spring Conference on April 8th at Empower Field!

Please contact Wendy Shaya for any additional information at wendy@wendyshaya.com. To learn more about RMRC and the scholarship, please visit our website at www.rmrconline.org.

TREP SCHOLARSHIP

The TREP Scholarship application and recommendation form for the 2026–27 school year is now live.

Hey DCSD Seniors,

The moment is finally here—the TREP application is officially LIVE! It feels like just yesterday you were hearing about this opportunity for the first time, and now you're ready to take the next step toward making college more affordable.

Good News, this isn’t a race—the application is NOT first come, first served—so take your time and complete it carefully! To make the process smoother, here are some key tips to keep in mind:

Application Tips & Reminders

Be Prepared: Before starting your application, have the following info ready:

  • Your legal first and last name

  • Your personal email (not school or college email) and cell phone number

  • Educator Pathway course taken your senior year

  • Postsecondary credits: Use high school transcript for any earned college-level credits.

    • AP score of 3+ (by the end of junior year)

    • IB score of 4+ (by the end of junior year)

    • Concurrent enrollment courses with a grade of C or above

TREP Program Understanding - What is your understanding of the TREP Program and what is Plan B if the program does not get approved?

Passion Paragraph: This is your chance to shine! Follow the instructions carefully and write a draft first before submitting your final response.

Trusted Adult Recommendation:

  • Pick a teacher, counselor, or staff member who knows you well.

  • Send them the Google Recommendation Form link and give your recommender at least two weeks to complete it.

  • Pro tip: Set a Google Calendar reminder to follow up two weeks along with including the recommender in the reminder!

FAFSA or CASFA (No SSN) Confirmation: As part of the TREP application process students need to upload proof that the appropriate application (FAFSA/CASFA) was submitted, thus the confirmation page

Important Dates

Application Closes: May 1
Recipient Announcements: Districts are awaiting approval from the state on program continuation and district slot allocation which traditionally happens late Spring.
TREP Signing Day Celebration: TBD

Heads up! These dates could shift due to ongoing discussions about the Colorado state budget. As always I’ll keep you posted if anything changes.

This is an exciting opportunity, and I’m here to help if you have any questions along the way. You got this!
