Reminder to grades 9-11 - Get involved!

Even though the school year is nearing the end, many AHS clubs and student activities are still actively looking for new members and volunteers. Remember that all AVA students are welcome to any AHS afterschool clubs, sports, and social events like dances/proms, so get involved sooner than later! It's a great way to not only foster peer relationships and personal development but also gain volunteer/professional experiences for your resume.

Upcoming Career/Trade Opportunities

A big thank you to Ms. Shaheen, the School-to-Career Specialist, who virtually visited our AVA Advisory this past Thursday and spoke to students about upcoming opportunities for those interested in jobs and/or trade school after graduation. To summarize:

1) AHS Opportunities Fair - Thursday, April 16 from 8:30a - 10a in AHS campus cafeteria. Seniors with undecided plans are strongly encouraged to attend! Representatives from employers, military, trade schools, and some colleges will be there!

2) Evening Career Fair - Monday, April 27 from 4p-5p in AHS campus cafeteria (enter through the back of the school near bus loop!). This opportunity is more geared towards graduating seniors looking for full-time jobs after graduation. Bring copies of your resume!

You can reach out to Ms. Shaheen directly at sshaheen@attleboroschools.com with any questions about the above. She is also happy to meet virtually and help students create and improve resumes, as well as help connect to other career-related opportunities.

Financial Aid Completion

College-bound seniors and families: Please remember to complete and submit the FAFSA application before the prorioty deadline of each college applied to, or the college you've been accepted by and plan to attend. FYI: Bristol Community College's FAFSA priority deadline is May 1st. The FAFSA can be done 100% onilne. Class of 2026 will complete the FAFSA 2026-2027 form. The student and family must first create an FSA ID if you do not have one already. FSA ID is used to digially sign the FAFSA. Please email Ms Nellie with any questions or for support as soon as possible if you have any trouble!

As always, please feel free to email me (nng@attleboroschools.com) with any questions, comments, or concerns. Have a terrific long weekend!
